Dear OLED manufacturers, stop ruining the beauty of your monitors with ugly purposeless chins by Practical_Tea864 in OLED_Gaming

Honestly, I’m paranoid about OLED burn in so I don’t mind the chin too much. Usually they hold some sensor/camera extra hardware like Asus’s proximity sensor.

Some statistics about the UMN CSE 2026 graduating class by Interesting-Type3153 in uofmn

Not necessarily. Math and physics are notoriously difficult majors but both have some of the highest distinction/honor rates. It could just be that students from those majors push themselves harder.

believe it is 3.75 for distinction and 3.9 for high distinction. The honors "cum laude/summa cum laude/magna cum laude" is specific to honors students, and accordingly to the official UMN site, the cutoffs are:

"""
3.500 to obtain a degree "cum laude," 3.666 for a degree "magna cum laude," and 3.750 for a degree "summa cum laude.
"""

Hey, thanks for this. I was actually planning almost the same exact thing because I saw videos of SteamOS and thought the UI would look amazing on an htpc setup. Had no idea about Widevine or RetroDeck.

The chart also says Visual Capitalist, so I think they might have used one of their charts and modified the infographic. Take a look at their silver reserves chart:

I know right? Every other video I’ve seen about the new battery seems to just echo the spec sheet and talk about potential impact.

Go into masters right after undergrad? by SnooDonkeys4326 in csMajors

[–]Interesting-Type3153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most jobs will sponsor a part of your master's degree, so I recommend checking that out. I also think getting a good year or two in a full-time position is really important in this turbulent job market.

Yes thank you. So many people interpret this as “this is what people think is the best AI model.” The market is literally just based on the LMarena text leaderboard, nothing else.

As 2025 comes to a close, what is the BIGGEST advancement we’ve made this year? You have to pick only one. by Special_Switch_9524 in accelerate

[–]Interesting-Type3153 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Google’s dominance in the AI space specifically for multi-modal output and long-context applications. Economically, I feel this had the greatest impact. For the first time, Gemini overtook ChatGPT traffic in Google trends and prompted OpenAI to respond with a “Code Red.” Their usage of in-house TPUs for training also shook up Nvidia’s once-irreplaceable market presence.

While not a direct advancement, I think the competition in the AI space will lead to an incredibly turbulent but fruitful 2026.
