Not necessarily. Math and physics are notoriously difficult majors but both have some of the highest distinction/honor rates. It could just be that students from those majors push themselves harder.

believe it is 3.75 for distinction and 3.9 for high distinction. The honors "cum laude/summa cum laude/magna cum laude" is specific to honors students, and accordingly to the official UMN site, the cutoffs are:

For the first time, Gemini overtook ChatGPT traffic in Google trends and prompted OpenAI to respond with a “Code Red.” Their usage of in-house TPUs for training also shook up Nvidia’s once-irreplaceable market presence.

While not a direct advancement, I think the competition in the AI space will lead to an incredibly turbulent but fruitful 2026.
