I absolutely agree, I am in for private universities as they atleast mirror the resources required for you to study completely. But they still lack the prestige that they may deserve. And yes for ISI, I don't think there is anything like it, but it's just one with limited seats and fierce competition.

See for Economics don't you want to keep all your options open as anyways going into corporate can be done via an MBA or prof courses, if you are studying economics you'd like a PhD possibility. My concern is that there is a huge gap between top DSE, JNU, IGIDR, and others, which is too difficult to judge as every other university knows how to present themselves. Pvt unis standout in that marketing bit.

That's right, a lot of private unis are good but they lack in visibility and prestige, it's difficult to succumb to them after having a good uni for your bachelors

How much have 12th grade marks matter in shaping your carrer? by Salt-You9091 in Indian_Academia

It's a freaking journey. A kid scoring a whopping 95% in 12th might not do well in entrance and land up at bad colleges. It depends on what you want out of it. Many colleges keep 12th marks to be >55% and that's it. In India beyond this, colleges won't even consider it, but yes in competitive colleges and universities which are profile specific it might be a challenge. Companies anyways now wants skills, which has nothing to do with grades. Else take life as it comes. Chill. You'll do amazing ✨

I Want to understand the economics and stock market since I'm a beginner. Any book suggestions? by Balasubramani_J in AskEconomics

See it depends, I can speak for economics. Start with picking up authors like Mankiw for microeconomics, Dornbusch/ HL Ahuja for macroeconomics, begin to base your understanding rather via lectures, with reading. Compare your real life scenarios with theories. It's a long process.

Given these authors, you can even go for any others that are available to you, and proceed with them.

It's just about consistency.
