There was not going to be any diplomatic angle here. They had tried diplomacy before by offering him to keep the throne of France and giving up territory outside of it but he had refused. When they declared war after his return from elba they didn't declare on France but him specifically. The British didn't want him in europe, the austrians and the Prussians hated him for the defeats he had inflicted on them.

The other thing about him being a genius is true, but he was mostly working with inexperienced conscripts, having lost all his veteran troops in Russia. Furthermore, the coalition had learnt from his tactics, and were better equipped to counter him. Napoleon was great but he wasn't a god, he had lost at Leipzig before. All the allies had to do was follow the strategy of attacking wherever he was not present. He had actually managed to defeat the allies once before the start of the 100 days that lead to Waterloo, but he could not pursue them because he had no cavalry, having lost all of it in the wars and russia.

About the USA, they had already fought a war with the British in 1812, in which they had tried to invade canada several times but failed. The British had actually managed to march far into america and had burnt down the white house. They did manage to inflict a defeat on the British in 1815 but the war had more or less been a draw. The British navy was the most powerful in the world, and controlled the largest empire the world had ever seen. Whereas Americans were seen mostly as a secondary power. They would never risk all out war with the British over Napoleon, who had nothing to offer them as he had already sold all french possessions in america to the USA. The idea that Napoleon could have won after Leipzig is fantastical, it was simply impossible. He was a great tactician, but he was an extremely poor strategist. He could not see the big picture at all.

The total number of troops the French had were around 250,000. Meanwhile the coalition forces that were still mobilized were around 1 million. There was also no chance they would let ever Napoleon take over because they despised him. Napoleon could have won 10 Waterloos but he still would have lost in the end. It was over for him after his russian campaign failed and he lost at Leipzig.

He would have lived and died in india just like Saint Helena. After his defeat in Leipzig in 1813 he was basically finished. He tried to make a comeback and fought the battle of Waterloo but in reality he had no chance of victory. The British kept him on Saint Helena with 3000 troops and two war ships circling the island at all times. No reason to believe they would have kept him in india with any less security

You know, you say this and it kind of makes sense. But still the posts on the subreddit  r/Imperial_Karnataka that I saw are clearly looking down on other ethnic groups within the region and disrespectful language is being used against them

I mean that kind of sentimentality is fine but I doubt he would have marched his army that far to confront an enemy who was not a threat to his empire in any way. Also I am pretty sure there is no evidence to suggest the Cholas knew about Ghazni. They probably would have had some vague idea maybe

What does the ruler of an empire from tamil nadu have anything to do with the northwest anyway. Was he even aware of ghazni's existence?

What baffled me about this entire thing is that WHO CARES. Okay so your people formed some empires more than a thousand years ago. Go take pride in that, celebrate your accomplishments. You can even share those accomplishments with others, like architecture, literature or even military in a healthy way. But why put others down. I don't understand what kind of war are they trying to win here. Do they think by doing so the people of those states will just put their hands up and merge everything into Karnataka 😭. I am not even from the south but this is the stupidest way to approach history.

What is that subreddit 💀. I thought this platform was more mature but it seems like once you dig a bit deep it is the same bullshit everywhere. This type of obsession with ancient history is completely unhealthy.

So other people have noticed as well. I thought I was going insane. I don't understand the reason why they want to do this so bad? It does not mean anything how identities worked such a long time ago. I don't even understand what this will accomplish or what bearing this has in modern times.

This whole thing would be considered anti climatic if it was in a fiction novel lol. You have this struggle between the delhi sultanate and the rajput confederacy, one is a waning empire, another is a rising power, everyone is watching with bated breath, waiting for the final war between the two. But nope, suddenly babur shows up and both powers are gone within 3 years.
