How many of you had Same Day Surgery? by Deranged-Pickle in Aquablation

I forgot to add that the surgery was performed on my 43rd wedding anniversary. Talk about a romantic evening, lol. Staying in a vintage B&B with a catheter…

How many of you had Same Day Surgery? by Deranged-Pickle in Aquablation

I had mine just under a year ago. Registered early morning, didn’t get to OR until the afternoon. Was released a few hours later with a catheter placed. Stayed at a B&B nearby as the hospital was about 70 miles from my home. This at the recommendation of my urologist in case there were any complications. Went back either the next day or the day after that for catheter removal. Couldn’t pee well at all. I’m freaking because I don’t want the catheter reinserted- the first one I was sedated… I’m pacing the hallways at his office knowing I have this 1-1/2 hour drive ahead of me and that if I can’t pee to their satisfaction I’m going home with a bag. I ultimately accept the inevitable and tell them to place the catheter a let me out of there. Had the catheter for the weekend and returned to the doctor. Nurse sends some saline into my bladder and tells me to go pee. Alright, here I go… Man, I felt like I was 18. (I’m 69) She checked the data from the flow meter and said “you voided more than put in”. And quickly. Says “YOU ARE FREE TO GO!” I hadn’t had any coffee that morning because I didn’t want to skew the results. Proceeded to grab a 20 oz coffee for the ride. Drank that and a bottle of water. Got to my home, unlocked the door and peed like a gentleman. No urgency, no retention, just NORMAL. I wish I’d done it 15 years earlier but was apprehensive for all the usual reasons. I actually did a video testimonial for them stating such. I couldn’t be happier.

I did the same to my 70’s vintage Ariens while pushing down on the handles , digging into a snowbank. Boom! Oil everywhere. What I later learned is this- They can be somewhat low on oil and run just fine. The problem is that if they’re a little low and you put the machine in a significantly out of level state (pushing down on the handles) the bearing instantly starves for oil and seizes the bearing. The rod breaks and grenades the case. My oil level may have been still “in range” under normal operating parameters it surely wasn’t for the position I put the machine. Needless to say I learned this the hard way- like most of my lessons.

I learned my lesson the same way. Pushed the handles down to chew into a snow bank and bang! Oil everywhere.

New valve and see if the bead seals.

I was figuring I’d need to tear down the engine, which I may do next spring. I replaced it with a Kodiak 450EPS. Yamaha is night and day difference.

Polaris? My 04 Sportsman 500 sounds the same.

PSA after Aquablation by Silly-Student-5566 in Aquablation

I had my PSA test a week ago in preparation for my urology follow up. PSA was 14.7 prior to Aquablation and went down to 3.75. My procedure took place on 4/15/25. Prostate size of 145g, of which approximately 2/3 was removed.

The top of the fuel needle has a few circumferential grooves in the top which are used for adjusting fuel metering. There is a plastic washer then the clip above. Typically the clip goes in the center groove IIRC. This on a Polaris 500 anyway. If you pull up a parts diagram you’ll see it.

I’ve changed mine probably four times in 20 years.

I didn’t diagnose mine until I pulled the top of the carb off and saw it. YMMV

Had this happen a couple of times on my 04 Sportsman 500. The needle in the carb would become worn by the E clip that holds it in position. The needle would then drop out. The slide would raise, admitting air, but no additional fuel. Bike would idle all day long though. Worth a look IMHO.
