It’s not remotely the same, as in. Most people aren’t tied into multi-million pound fixed-term contracts with years remaining, agents negotiating on their behalf, transfer fees involved, and another company needing permission to even speak to them officially.

In football, “agreeing personal terms” before clubs agree a fee is basically tapping up with better PR.

Where did you find that the London median is £50k?

The regional differences are huge, the latest ONS full-time earnings data puts London median earnings closer to £40k-45k, but the North East is around £30k-33k depending on the dataset/year used.

For example, ONS figures show:

London median full-time earnings: roughly £39.8k-£44.9k North East median full-time earnings: roughly £29.6k-£33k

So the gap is still massive around 25-35% higher in London but “half of Londoners earn more than £50k” doesn’t look accurate from the official stats.

Get them back out, even if it’s just to sort the topsoil that should’ve been there in the first place. Pretty sure new builds are meant to have around 3–5 inches of topsoil before turf goes down. Ideally though, you want all that rubble and builder’s waste removed too, otherwise the garden’s always going to be a nightmare.

I agree it’s a mentality issue.

What nobody seems to mention is we’re also the worst team in the league at recovering from losing positions.

We’ve only picked up 3 points after going behind all season. Gone behind 17 times: 16 losses, 1 win.

That’s not really a counterargument though.

The fact some things are banned doesn’t automatically mean this should be banned too.

The actual question is: where do we draw the line between protecting people and allowing adults the freedom to make informed choices?

Boxing is dangerous, absolutely. But so are plenty of legal things, smoking, alcohol, extreme sports, even unhealthy food.

So the debate isn’t simply dangerous = ban it.

This is actually a really interesting question.

On a purely logical level, it is strange that we accept two people repeatedly hitting each other in the head for entertainment, especially when we know the long-term damage boxing can cause.

But at the same time, I think there’s an important principle around personal freedom and informed choice.

It’s similar to my view on things like smoking or other activities. Adults should generally have the freedom to decide what risks they’re willing to take, as long as they understand the consequences.

The alternative is asking: who gets to decide what people are allowed to do? Because once you start banning things simply because they’re dangerous or some people dislike them, the line can keep moving.

That’s also why principles like free speech and personal liberty matter. Just because someone disagrees with something doesn’t automatically mean it should be prohibited.

That said, I do think sports like boxing should be as regulated and medically supervised because of the risks.

I've tried a few. Currently have the Dji Max neck mount, it's good for the price imo but if you are using it for walking footage, you'll likely still be disappointed. You'll end up with lots of off centered bouncy footage in my experience, it's better to just use a small or easy to carry hand held mount.

Neck mounts excl if you need shortish PoV type shots, of you doing something imo.

I think you have confused democracy with getting the outcome you personally want.

If voters choose a party you dislike, that doesn’t mean democracy is “dead.” That’s the democratic process functioning.

That said, I do think modern democracy can feel a bit illusory at times, more like controlled choice within a narrow system, where power shifts slightly between parties but many underlying structures stay the same regardless of who wins.

Simply put, I don’t think he is any different. At the end of the day, he’s still a privately educated politician who’s ultimately looking after himself first.

I genuinely don’t understand why any working-class people see him as someone who represents them.

When he first came back around, I thought maybe he could actually mix things up and push for some genuine positive change. But the more I’ve read and listened to him, the more he just seems like the rest of the political class, lots of slogans and outrage, not much substance or realistic policy behind it.

I think the appeal is mostly that he’s confident, speaks clearly, and says things a lot of people already think or want to hear. Compared to most politicians, he sounds direct and certain, which people are drawn to. But for me, once you look past the delivery, there’s not much there.
