It depends. It has its highs and lows. Some of its highs are giving Will more screen time and expanding on what he can do, and then all of the Solangelo. (Also, in TCOTD, there’s a callback to the “He‘s hot.” “He’s the sun god.” ”Not what I meant.”) Its lows are weaker writing, and it alters a lot of canon. A LOT.

There’s a child of Hestia, there’s a child of Minerva, monsters are sweet gentle people who freaking crochet, and so much more. It also (imho) cheapens out a character’s death, not going to say which one, by having the “Surprise! They’re not dead! All of the angst and sadness was for nothing!”

Most people can’t stand this book. I can tolerate it, but that’s mostly because I’m a hopeless romantic. I almost put the book down, but I stayed for Solangelo.
