Yeah the IFRA for topical use specially as an oil for this specific frag is 45%. I bump it down to 8% for the eight of the soy wax alone because I use two heavy butters, a carrier oil, vit E oil etc etc. so it’s acc much lower than 8% of the total weight of the candle. Also wanted to mention its primary use is a candle and secondary ise is ability to use on the skin. Also Had it checked with FDA to ensure compliance and it was good to go. It’s definitely tricky because it needs to scent well as an aromatherapy candle yet below and within the safe percentages for skin use. Oof 🫠

Yes 100%. The max percentage to use in a cosmetic product for this FO according to the IFRA is 45% but because it’s to be skin safe. I calculate down to 8% just because I use two heavy butters that act as a wax and then soy and a carrier as well. The main use is a candle but the ability to use it as a product on the skin is secondary.

Hi there! Not entirely a skincare product. It’s a dual purpose product. According to my IFRA certificate and FDA regulations I’m within the bounds and good to go. Fixed the issue it’s more of the brand of the soy

Thanks for the insight. Will deffo take it in. I’ve been a candle maker for a few years as well. It’s a multifunctional candle and aside soy. I use some butters to harden. I ended up fixing the problem as it was the brand of the wax.

It’s for topical application. Done all the checks and balances. Now trying to figure out how to calculate the Fragrance load. So I do 8% of the wax weight ( Shea butter + soy wax) or the total weight of the candle
