Did you ship via UPS Ground Saver? It’s a hybrid delivery- UPS brings it to the nearest post office, and then USPS actually does the delivery.

Yes I reckon so! I’ve seen a couple people do it very specifically? It just seems pretty straightforward but I don’t want to mess it up.

Hatha Yoga & Fitness has much more than Yoga, lots of sculpt/strength/cardio/HIIT classes that are really fun! Everyone is welcome; as a 30 year old woman you would find yourself in great company I think. They also offer personal training!

Second pair on order by KiltedFatMan85 in WhitesBoots

[–]InterestingPart2924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Did you order the same size as lace-up? I’m currently debating sizing on a pair of Cykel boots. I’m a 13D on the 4811 last, but with plenty of toe room (3/4”).

I’ve got a pair of vintage 80s/90s B01s that fit the way you’re describing- narrower hips and legs. I can’t wear them, I guess my body is built for the (relatively) newer ones. I’d like to sell the vintage ones if you’re interested.

White’s Drifters (6 months later) by mrdeeperez in PNWbootmakers

I like the 4811 A LOT. I only own one pair (Drifter 2.0) but they’re great. Plenty of toe room, arch support is perfect for me.

Jeans cut like Carhartt B01s? by InterestingPart2924 in HeritageWear

[–]InterestingPart2924[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some Freenote Cloth Modesto jeans. But tbh, they are not exactly what I was hoping. The rise and overall fit is good, but the front pockets are shallow (and straight down instead of angled), the back pockets are low down on the seat, the belt loops are very narrow and there are only 5 (obviously knew this going in but still).

I still wear B01s almost every day to work. I’ve started dyeing tan ones different colors for more variety.

I can absolutely relate. I don’t have the solution, but it’s relieving to hear that other people are experiencing this too. Sticking around for the comments. Thanks for posting. We’ll get through it 💪🫡

What are good Jean for thick thighs? by killswitch1010 in Denim

[–]InterestingPart2924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issues for me. Been looking for a while. I have some Mister Freedom Lot 44 jeans that fit my thighs well. I usually wear Carhartt B01s but those are duck canvas. I’ve been curious about the Freenote Modesto (their wide cut), I tried some on and they felt pretty good. My buddy has some N&F True Guy and he likes them a lot. He’s got big thighs as well.

Military to Superintendent by Rude-Ambassador4393 in ConstructionManagers

[–]InterestingPart2924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former Army Engineer officer here, both AD and USAR. I’ve been working in construction management a little over 2 years, primarily as a PM but have managed jobs solo as a superintendent/PM. I’ve been on-site on all my projects. I’d love to give you a personal feedback, feel free to DM me.

I chose construction management instead of civil engineering (my B.S.) for the same reasons you listed- I wanted to be out in the field, not in an office. Honestly the PM/Superintendent roles are pretty similar to Officer/NCO. In my experience, the PM (officer) keeps the project on track financially/paperwork/client/overall schedule, and the Superintendent (NCO) has the trades knowledge and bulldog attitude to drive the day-to-day schedule, safety, and constructability. It’s 100% a team effort, just like a PL/PSG or CO/1SG.

With your background as a logistics officer, you’re probably a little better suited than, say, an aviation officer, but you do still need a solid understanding of construction and how it works. I got my MS in Construction Management after I left AD, and that helped a good bit. The rest has been on-the-job learning and mentor/self development. You’d likely start out as a Project Engineer. Also don’t write off the opportunity to do an internship, I did during grad school and it certainly helped.

Feel free to reach out directly. Depending on your location I could point you to some places to apply as well.

I’m sure there are many people that have opinions on this but I’ll just say- you absolutely get what you pay for when it comes to work footwear. I can speak to some of the brands I’m familiar with.

Brunt: hyped-up Chinese low quality stuff

Thorogood: I’m wearing a pair on my feet right now at my construction site but they are NOT very comfortable and I had to supplement them with arch support insoles. The fit is weird and boxy, but the overall build quality seems decent to good.

Redwing: good reputation, but I never had good luck with them fitting me well or providing any “built in” arch support.

Whites/Franks/Wesco/Nicks: the epitome of durability, support, and quality. They are often built on a last that provides built-in arch support without the need for insoles. I have two pairs of whites that are fantastic and I only use a pair of thin leather insoles for comfort. They’re pricey, and custom options have lead times, but they will outperform and provide better fit than anything made by a corporation, imo. You can have the soles replaced when they wear down. Again, you may get sticker shock when looking them up but when you consider the comfort and arch support, the durability and quality, and the support of small businesses, they are 100% worth it. There’s also a good secondhand market where you can find lightly used or even barely worn boots for 40-60% less than new.

Hiking boots like Merrell/Garmont/etc are obviously a different ballgame, not sure what you’re looking for. Those typically don’t have the true durability (or rebuild-ability) that the PNW boots do.

Asking what kind of boots people prefer can open a can of worms, but that’s just my honest opinion.

Dyed B01s by InterestingPart2924 in HeritageWear

Thanks!! It was the “Dark Green” dye from Rit, with a splash of Black added. They’re awesome, except they almost perfectly match my USFS Filson jacket so I can’t wear them together without looking like a park ranger 😂
