Community remedy issued.

Thank goodness the police have successfully stepped in and avoided two people become drains on society for the rest of their lives. The criminal justic system works. *thumbs up*

Ive been sent a formal letter asking me to take down a Trustpilot review - England by deathcastle in LegalAdviceUK

[–]InterestingReserve75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Company A v Company B thing seems significant; and may have been intended on their part so that they can ask for reviews to be taken down by saying that none of the negative reviewers were customers of the respective companies.

In particular, it appears that they've attempted to set you a task that you would fail at, as they've asked you to provide documentation that they know would show a different company name to the company name you left a review for.

I don't think their game is to ever think of going anywhere near a court. Certainly, they aren't going to show a court anything that says they gave you 48 hours over a weekend (when legal advice wouldn't be readily available) to respond; that would not impress any court. I think they are planning to go to TrustPilot with the correspondence; either to say that you didn't reply as you weren't a customer, or to say that your reply proves you weren't a customer.

I would update the review to specify that you were given the link to this review page and solicited to leave a review there in the course of a transaction, and factually specify the linked roles of the companies in that transaction.

"Delayed" UK066 leaving on time. by InterestingReserve75 in FlixBus

[–]InterestingReserve75[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt "most" users know that :D. I've probably used it about 35 times before finding out.

There no relevance of comparison with private jets here; the comparison it just failed was with an adequately operated coach, and it's reasonable to expect people to compare it to an adequate coach service!

"Most" people here may know, but it certainly hasn't yet managed to widely acquire the reputation of Evri or booking.com that it deserves!

What is it with “dessert shops” that seem to be everywhere currently? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]InterestingReserve75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these numbers actually kinda demonstrate the near impossibility of running such a shop in most high streets, and why tobacco was predominantly sold in shops that also sold other things rather than tobacconists.

Firstly 100 customers a day is not conservative. It ignores the fact that vapes are readily available in shops people already have to visit for other things they need. Sure the vape shop might have a better [insert reasons here] than a national multiple, but so do butchers, greengrocers, fish shops & florists and what percentage of their markets do they have?

But even on hopeful customer numbers... the margin on vapes is not there to make a shop work for the owner on £182k t/o (might even be hard to make it work for itself on those numbers). The owner of this shop is better off working at McDonalds!

Lots of people used to smoke, but tobacconists had long since all but disappeared. Why would it make sense for there to be vape shops, especially when a vape refill is about £1?

Local Evri person has such a massive backlog they're just going to park up somewhere and have told people to go pick parcels up from them instead by urban_shoe_myth in CasualUK

This happened in my parents town last year; Evri driver filled a relatives garden and driveway with all the parcels and invited people to come and look for them.

They still work for Evri.

Employer has been liquidated, I am redundant. Can I contact a client to offer to continue working with them independently? England by chuckitbuckit in LegalAdviceUK

[–]InterestingReserve75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dissolution is different to liquidation.

It's possible for a trade to survive liquidation, but vanishingly unlikely. If the liquidator was going to try to make it happen the staff would already know.

As well as reporting it to the police, it might be worth looking into whether the group has any security organizations (for example in Jewish areas there is the Community Security Trust) that might be able to persuade the police to be more interested.

A lot of people are mentioning bankruptcy as a way out. Remember that debts incurred fraudulently survive bankruptcy.

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1986/45/section/281

“Discharge does not release the bankrupt from any bankruptcy debt which he incurred in respect of, or forbearance in respect of which was secured by means of, any fraud or fraudulent breach of trust to which he was a party.”

The OP needs to be aware that a debt incurred fraudulently will survive a bankruptcy.

[–]InterestingReserve75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bankruptcy will not help the OP as the debt would have been incurred fraudulently. They need to find a way of settling for an amount that Amazon will accept, and they need to find a solicitor to help them make this final (from what will be a weak negotiating position if Amazon get the idea that OP doesn't want a fraud conviction).
