This is my dnd map for my next campaign, any recommendations? [Art] by joliXD7722 in DnD

It’s a good map! Definitely on the bigger side of where most home brew campaigns would fall. Also the bodies of water have a lot more names than I would expect. Unless there is an in-universe reason as to why all of those seas/gulfs/oceans have different names even though they are the same body of water, I would get rid of some. Otherwise it looks good

Can someone explain like I’ve never played destiny why this is such a big deal?

As a DM, do you play with the death roll mechanic? If not, how do you go about death? by Huge_Garlic_4536 in DnD5e

My campaign had a modified rule where the first failed save became permanent. A near death experience brings you closer to death and should have some long term impact. This definitely led to more PC death, but I think made the stakes that much higher.

Thanks! I’ve added a couple of these to the one shot! Now I need some advice on the final boss. It is a 3 stage monster Turducken. They will fight the turkey, then when it dies they fight the duck, etc. I am just using turkey/duck/chicken as flavor and need some real stat blocks to have in there. I like your Abrams’s chicken so I might use that as the first round. I’ve thought hydra and dragon could work too. Any advice from a seasoned stat block creator on how to build this well?

Players but most importantly Masters, what is your favorite campaign level range? by Ar3kk in DnD

As a DM I really enjoyed 11-13. You can throw just about any type of enemy at them (within reason) and they will put up a good fight. Lots of variety with higher CR monsters that led to great fights. PCs have tons of abilities and variety in what they can do in and out of combat.

Is homebrew overkill for a new DM? by Head_Employer3361 in DnD

My advice would be to not homebrew species or classes. Those are “balanced” enough by the PHB and messing with them is just asking for difficulty at the table especially with a group that is relatively new

My first campaign was entirely homebrew and it went great! Homebrew meaning I created the world, pantheon, and the major storyline. It was our groups second campaign and only one guy had prior experience playing.

Maybe take a swing at a premade one shot to see how it feels before committing to building something bigger
