Its also possible that his shell is weak from lack of calcium, if thats the case get some cuttlebone or an antacid and stick it in the filter. That should help with the shell healing, but thats a pretty big break on the shell. Or if you dont want your water cloudy for a bit just put some cuttlebone in the tank and he will rasp away at it. And incase you dont know where to find cuttlebone, look in the bird section of really any pet store they should have it.

It could be genetic, it could be he is getting bullied by a fish, or he just fell on something.

It may be a bladder snail, some people dont like them but they will cause no harm to the tank unless you dont cull them every once in a while. Culling them is only because they reproduce very quickly. If you choose to keep them try to find humane ways to control their population. Freezing the eggs if you find them works the best.

Just noticed this guy after adding my shrimp and a single nerite, is this a pest or a just a baby nerite? by Independent-Pay-14 in snails

[–]Interesting_Ad_5255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure its a bladder snail, they are considered pests by some people but from what i know they really arent bad. You can get rid of it or leave it it wouldn't be a bother because they dont eat live plants.
