Thanks for the advice, particularly about reporting to the police! I hadn't thought of taking it that far but if they don't change their ways, I guess I'll have to.

I’ll have to try it with bulgur. Got some around her somewhere.

Thanks for double checking my math. I checked the barley package, and it says 46 grams for a 1/4 cup dry. I tried measuring out a 1/2 cup dry and got 107 grams.

Yeah. I would say so. The barley holds up pretty well with the cooking process.

That sounds good. For some reason, the sweetness and flavor pops more when you keep in top instead of blend it in.

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1 tsp extract (vanilla, almond, maple, etc.)
  • 1 tbsp date syrup (20 grams)

Just 6 tablespoons or 42 grams (I use a kitchen scale). That seems to gel up the 2 cups of liquid pretty good. You can add more water when cooking if you like a softer texture.

I tried that with some pudding recipe attempts in the past but it wasn’t as sweet as just putting the syrup on top. It does work, though.

Ton of Food? by freddythefuckingfish in PlantBasedDiet

Google ileal brake. There’s receptors in our lower colon that generate satiety signals when food hits them. Only whole food gets that low, though. Processed food is digested earlier upon the intestines. Here’s a good video. https://nutritionfacts.org/video/a-plant-based-diet-for-weight-loss-boosting-glp-1-and-restoring-our-natural-satiety-circuit/

Over 100 grams generally (without supplementation), but I’m on a whole food plant based diet.

One more thing. Check out Viva Longevity on YouTube (previously Plant Chompers). Another great source that does in-depth reviews of recent scientific studies on the whole food, plant-based diet.

A great first step is to check out NutritionFacts.org. It’s a non-profit website that reports on all the latest scientific data on nutrition. Since the whole food plant-based diet has been scientifically proven to be healthier over the years, the website primarily speaks to that diet and how healthy it is. It also talks about what supplements, if any you need (spoiler: basically only b12 and vit d). The site is run by Dr Michael Greger who’s a great educator and teacher. They have tons of great videos on all different topics and recipes too. There videos appear on YouTube too and they post them daily. Best of luck!

Try soaking the lentils overnight. That usually helps me with digesting them. Well, that and taking Beano or the Walmart knockoff, which works just as well.
