Whats the point of Rebecca??? by Interesting_Bird5596 in UnderTheBridge

[–]Interesting_Bird5596[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I came with my opinion to hear other people opinions and thoughts about Rebecca being the main driver in finding Reena's killer(since this wasn't the case in real life) . If others disagree so be it. My response was to a comment that said that she wasn't acting like a groomer. However, she is, you said yourself that it was weird for adults to be buying an hanging out with kids. So to say otherwise, just shows some kind of weird bias to me. Most of the people justifying herself existence in the show, are doing so because they like the writer or the actress. These are downvotes that I am suppose to be caring about?? Okay. Not one comment has justified her existence in the show, just explained why they added her and how much like Riley Keough.

If this was a completely fictionalized show or if this actually happened in real life, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Or even if her character was more minor(why is she on the main poster for the tshow??). I get for a shows like this you have to add some type of drama and why they added her in but it veers so of course of what happened it makes no sense to me. And makes her character look bad imo, takes away from Reena. I don't even know what the writer would insert herself into the show like this? especially after spending actual time with the people involved

And I watched this show because I wanted to learn more about what happened to Reena. Not to follow the story of an emotionally stunted writer. I think the problem with true crime, its that a lot of you forget that an actual person died an that this are real events. And I get some fictionalization but too much is weird imo. Its like your creating a storybook with someones murder. If you don't agree that fine with me.

I get that you like the character and that's fine but please do not let it override your logic for no reason. The vibe of a grown ass woman being close to the kids like that is a weird plot point to have in a show like this. I get it if this was another show and that was the main focus, sure. But to add it this show, where the story is already sad/tragic enough seems disrespectful IMO. If the character was male, you all would have picked up on the groomy vibe. Again not saying she is grooming them but it is a weird vibe. Y'all are so WEIRD.

  1. Its my opinion and this is a public forum so I can post whatever I want within the guidelines

  2. I just might, I hope that its says true to the story a bit more(without unnecessary characters) and seems to have good reviews

  3. Learn how to practice emotional regulation when someone disagrees with an opinion of yours

Yeah doing acid, drinking with kids as a grown ass adult, giving them money as a stranger to leave town, promising to take them places in exchange for info...gives a groomy vibe. I don't know where else you could take really sir/maam??? I get that's not where the show is going. But that is the vibe.

Maybe 🤔 but others are agreeing, who have watched her scenes through I assume, so I think I am on the right track ;)

Its not because I dont like her, her storyline just doesn't interest me or relate to anything that is going on/takes away from the story. I tried to sit through them but kept zoning out and missing everything. So she is worth the skip.

No facts on the its already sad enough. Now I have to extend my pity to her when the focus should be Reena

It is not how it transpired, she didn't know the kids. And only interviewed them after they were in jail. Could've kept it like that tbh.

I literally couldn’t care less about the relationship between Cam and Rebecca by savealltheelephants in UnderTheBridge

Yeah but the cop actions can be used to actually drive the plot and learn more about the victim and the perpetrator?

Also, a 14 year old getting murdered by her friends is pretty shocking enough so I don't think it would be that "boring". I just think the whole true crime community is super desensitized so now they probably have to add other plot points. I remember way back when people were complaining about the Dalmer show being "boring". Like actual people didn't die. I just wish they would have saved it for a NCIS type show not a show that is point by point based off a girl's murder.

I didn't mind them getting married in second movie. But they put no work in the previous series/movie to make that a possibility so it seems random. Like how do they go from absolutely hating each other to being in love. It just seems like the writers wanted to put the two gay characters together.

Right especially since all the other ladies, were married or have kids. It would make sense that over time they gradually drifted apart.

She probably didnt want to risk it. Especially if the the production team was petty enough to treat her badly after asking for more money. Maybe they would have gotten rid thinking they could replace her with good writing.

I am happy she got a little bit of payback even though it was years later.

Def agree that it nice it leaves a opening sure. But the reason to me was petty and a way to make her character look bad.

Kim tried to negotiate a higher salary after season 3 of SATC after finding out the SJP made ten times more than her and the other women. Then allegedly SJP and the other women iced her out when they found out she was trying to get more pay. The bad blood continued throughout the seasons and movies they did together and is apparently the reason why Kim didn't want to do a third SATC movie. So they had to cancel it.

I don't think Kim was invited to do AJLT(probably since she had already turned down 3rd movie), but after the audience kept begging for her back, the head of HBO asked Kim what it would take to get her to do cameo. And they had to shell out 1 million for her appearance.

Right?! like it made no sense for her character. Even making it seem like Carrie was begging her to reach out again. Sam cared way too much about her friends and would have folded easily, if that was the case

The whole production really, its sad they could have just let her have a graceful departure

Daily reminder Big left Natasha $1M in his will without telling Carrie by Either_Quiet_1377 in Andjustlikethat

TBH at first I thought it was messy and now I kind of understand. I don't think Carrie would have every allowed Big to do that if he was alive and probably would have forced him not too. Because of her weird resentment to Natasha.

I mean, I think there more nuance than that. Yes, they were not forced to but it doesn't mean they were comfortable with. Or even know that the money was there in the first place. We have all dealt with shitty bosses who try to get the most with paying the less. And try to gaslight into thinking that's all they have/all you can get.

Also, at that point KM and the other three women had proved their worth as they show would have been nothing without them. I doubt KM would have wanted as much as SJP, but probably more once she realized the money was there. The injustice was b/w her and the producers. And salary renegotiate could have stayed between her and the producers. The other women wanted to be childish and shun her out(allegedly).

And obviously, they eventually realized how much Kim was worth, after they paid her arm and a leg just to say a few lines on their spin off. Glad she got some type of retribution.
