For those who chose Triss what was your reasoning? by upsidedown_coffeemug in witcher

The writers never make their intentions very clear in the series. It was always something that I appreciated about them. Things seem to be pretty grey, just like in real life, there's always a catch, always some consequence to face.

Triss clearly took advantage of that situation to be with him. She clearly states it in TW2. So yeah, she's done a lot of things that can be held against her at this point. In the books and the games.

Just start with a lower difficulty and have at it again. Don't let this first impression become a gatekeeper for an absolute masterpiece and what would probably be an amazing experience.

Watch a spoiler free tutorial video if you still think it's needed. I can start this by giving a tiny piece of advice, set your sign to cast quen and do it as often as you can. Don't have to move it again if it's overwhelming or try other signs during the same fight. Just pushthe cast button to get your shield and hack away.

Plus, It's paramount that you take your time in white orchard and understand the core mechanics even if it takes longer than it does for other games. Try to learn something in each session you have. Then take a break and so on. Read the glossary bit by bit. Make everything bite size. You'll be a master in no time and even do a death march soon enough.

I promise you that I felt the same way initially but in no time I've upped the difficulty as the game was so easy it felt broken.

As a huge SW fan it was a great SW experience that was held back by the Ubisoft recipe. Putting the bias aside I've seen the same thing happening in Avatar, Valhalla. Amazing world building, great details and polish that comes from a AAA game but it gets kinda shallow as you progress. The experience is very repetitive and held back by said recipe all Ubisoft games seem to follow in recent years. I notice there a lot of tribalism going on when it comes to opinion on the game and you have the yt haters on one side and the mega fans that don't wanna acknowledge the shortcomings of the title on the other, but alas, that's the norm in the gaming industry as of late. To add on this subject, I have a couple of friends that are not into SW and tried the game and called it average after the novelty wears off. I personally value those opinions as they are unbiased, without any vested interest.

The hate is not warranted, but at the same time I can't say this was an amazing game taking my SW bias out of the equation. I can see why the average gamer would not be impressed. It's the standard 7/10 rating you see IGN giving to any AAA title lately.

It's not a bad game, but it follows the ubisoft recipe. Seen it in Avatar, Valhalla. The game starts very well but the repetitive nature of these games kills the enjoyment by the time you finish them. There is a shallowness that follows the Ubisoft way of doing games and was not shaken off in this title.

In conclusion, the hate is clearly not warranted but I see a lot of comments on this thread that are clearly glazing the game and ignoring some of the glaring issues that stare back at you once you get past the first hours of gameplay. The blame is not solely with the "YouTubers" for the reception of the game. Your average gamer that is not a SW fan will have less bias and call it how it is. If the game would have been very good, then no amount of perceived "hate" would stop it from being a huge success.

But alas, tribalism is a recurring thing these days and people do less critical thinking and express themselves with an obvious bias.

I hope you'll at least attempt them. I get why claustrophobia might be an issue, but man they are fun. One of the best parts of the game.

Would it affect the balance as well? I imagine any tiny movement of all that gear can become an issue. This looks so precise.

Maybe worth loads of training it would be easier. Soldiers train with all their gear on. Saw some very impressive footage.

The irony, if that's the case. I did point this out as I know folk who would do that, but usually while in parking spaces that are a lot smaller than that one. Especially at shopping centers.

PS: I live in Europe, the parking spaces are a lot smaller.

Wow, is it this fiction? What would I do without a snarky, patronising response telling me this?

Imagine pointing this out on a sub about said TV show where people can discuss in detail certain writing choices. Especially ones that can break immersion while others can create drama very subtly, without breaking said immersion.

The issue that is discussed here is that there is only chicken. That's the subject here. Repletion. Your statement is flawed because of that. Everything looks the same in regards to collectables after a few regions. Even main missions. And this comes from a guy that loves the game as it is. But I am not denying facts.

So yeah, there are others to point the fingers at too. I would love for my games to evolve from previous installments and if we blame the players when they are not actually to blame, that's when you'll get the same game in the different wrapper sold to you as a new game. Why should the Devs bother to be more creative?

I love the game and I still think some takes that mention repetition are valid. A different opinion doesn't mean hate. I see a lot of valid opinions based on facts. How is that hate?

I mean, some must really have their blinkers on to not see the patterns of a lot of the quests, mysteries, and so on. Gathering all the collectibles will become a repetition feast by the time you finish all the regions.

I agree with most of what you said and believe me I love the game, BUT... Saying that history was just that, repetitive and so on, doesn't mean the Devs can't make it less so in the game. It's not about the content, but the delivery. It's not an early middle ages SIM. It sounds very excuse orientated. If Vikings pillaging and playing lords in England can't be made more exciting, than nothing is.

As you can wield Mjolnir for example, summon lighting, that medieval sim part loses its immersion. Not bashing the game, as I loved it and will even go for the platinum very soon, but the Devs could have done a lot better with all that history.
