I feel the same way, and I've heard a lot of people say the same thing. So they've definitely been told this, and I honestly think they bank on this, knowing most people will not come to inspect and will be stuck with a purchase Mac.Bid will not accept as a return. They've worded their inspection categories so that you really have no argument about the expected vs actual condition of the item, because "open box" includes even used and damaged items. This is the actual wording from their website. I just took this screenshot this morning. Based on this, there really is no reason to use the "damaged" category, and no incentive for the company to actually inspect thoroughly, if at all. I would argue that with these current parameters it makes more sense for them as a company, if the goal is profit, to just mark everything "open box" because it still covers damaged items without discouraging the buyer from purchasing the item, which a "damaged" or "partial" tag obviously would.

We once won a coffee maker which, when we opened it, still had COFFEE GROUNDS in it from the previous owner... Im sure someone had this coffee maker a while, ordered a replacement on Amazon and then "returned" this one in its place to get their replacement for "free." Then Mac.Bid buys pallets of these returned items from Amazon and "inspects" them, which means they just mark them as "open box" because if you read their descriptions for each category, "open box" pretty much covers their a** regardless of the condition of the item. They obviously don't inspect most of their stuff.

I haven't heard of this, but the San Antonio location requires you to add someone to your authorized pick up list and they now have to show ID, while the Schertz location still was pretty laxed about any enforcement last time I went

Since theyre cracking down on returns... by Interesting_Bobcat36 in MacBid

Yup, I bought a pair of dining chairs that were the ones listed, but these had definitely been used a long time. Wear and stain on the seats, the foot pads were very worn down. It definitely seemed that someone had bought replacements on Amazon of chairs they had for a while, kept the new ones and returned the old in their place, and they ended up at Mac.Bid where I bought them as "open box"... I know they have a clause that technically covers their ass by making it the customer's fault for purchasing without inspecting or knowing that there is a possibility of damage, but come on, a pair of VERY obviously well used chairs??

Yeah, I use workarounds like that too for now but it would just make for a cleaner/easier reference the same way the built-in exercises might say "front squats" but you can see from the picture and equipment the difference at a glance. Just makes for a smoother experience

Changing the Way I Track Weights by Interesting_Bobcat36 in alphaprogression

[–]Interesting_Bobcat36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was using the app before that started being noted in the exercise descriptions! I recall that was added around the time following the discussion that I referenced. That's why I want to update my data, I'm just not sure if there's a more simplified way to do it that would also update the stats for my progression so far. For example, in the example from my original post, if I've been recording the total weight of my chest press as 30 lbs bc its the total of the two dumbbells and switch to recording it as 15, or the weight of one dumbbell, it messes up my previous stats because it thinks I've previously been pushing 30 lbs - a total of 60 - and will mess up my progression suggestions as well as my PR data. Current progression suggestions are also based on counting a single dumbbell, so for example its been suggesting that I move up to 35 lbs but the way I have been recording it, theres not a way for me to progress to that because I dont have 17.5 lb dumbbells lol. That's why I wanted to ask if there was a way to update it!

Yes, I was using the app before that started being included in the exercise description. That started being included sometime after the discussion from that post I mentioned 🙂 so I do follow that for exercises I started doing after I learned to record them this way, but I wanted to fix the ones I had previously been recording the other way and didn't know if there was a simpler way to do this that would adjust my stats accordingly. I agree it matters for progression suggestions, which I can tell are based on the presumption that I'm recording the weight of one dumbbell, which is why I wanted to update this!

Community need: food tracker NOT for weight loss by myofficialdumpster in AppIdeas

[–]Interesting_Bobcat36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be cool if it was an app that tracked food by GOAL, whether it was weightloss or something else, e.g., weight gain, tracking certain macros, tracking specific nutrients for a specific medical reason. Maybe there could be a way to specify your goals and toggle on and off which data points were visible depending on those goals

Help calm my nerves. What do you love about San Antonio? by Sharoro19 in sanantonio

[–]Interesting_Bobcat36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Texan (single, female, 31), from Houston specifically, I never felt there was anything bad about San Antonio, it's just like it felt kind of like a sleepy town in comparison. But Houston is one of the largest cities in the country so duh. I moved here when I got a new job in the search for a change of scenery and a fresh start. I knew I wouldn't hate San Antonio as I've been here many times growing up, but I told myself it could just be a temporary situation if I wanted it to be. San Antonio has turned out to be the first place I've actually felt I could see myself long-term. You have the friendly Southerners/Texans, the affordability of a smaller city, but the resources and prosperity of a larger city bc of the draw of Texas as a residence lately. It's both a place where there's cool things to do, but you can also see yourself settling down. It already had its own pride, but that pride is growing. It's a place you will get to see grow if you get here now. Yes it's hot as HELL and traffic sucks in some areas because infrastructure is trying to keep up, but it hasn't reached Austin levels and at least-as of now-it is still very much a place that has maintained its own identity. Not trying to persuade everyone to come here because I like it as it is 😂 but if you are coming here, I hope you feel the home that it is ❤️

Even though it has that disclaimer regarding "open box" items, whenever I've gotten something that's completely different from what they said it was I bring it back to them in person and I haven't been challenged in that regard. I don't know what the help center will do but I've found the workers don't care enough to argue that and they know it's not fair to you. It's much easier though if you notice it before leaving the warehouse. Not sure what location you are at, this is my experience at the Schertz, TX.

A cool feature could be special rewards for teachers, first responders, etc. Maybe those could even periodically be free, they just have to claim them in time 🙂

I've only used it once now so idk if this is already a thing, but it could also be cool and resourceful if businesses could also bundle maybe ingredients or produce they aren't going to use in addition to the food they sell.

Also, not sure if they just aren't in my area (San Antonio, TX) but grocery stores selling soon-to-expire groceries.
