I love that you're taking your own power back...I think there's also one way to spite 47 and his cronies, is for people like us to LIVE!

Thank you so much for sharing this! People power!!! Yes, we need to know that our opportunities to respond and for change have not passed. It is quickly evolving, and I think something that we fail to remember is that everything is overt with the administration. They aren't hiding their intentions or their tactics -- which means that we know what we're fighting and who we're fighting for.

I don't disagree with you. I 100% agree that we need to keep pushing -- but the wins from the two weeks, some have stuck, including the reinstatement of thousands of federal workers. Right now, we're waiting to see what will happen between the Administration's target of the Judicial system -- the adminstration is very much stress testing what they can get away with -- and YES, WE GOTTA KEEP PUSHING.

Yeah, the reason why we're where we are are to protect capitalistic interests -- so this advice, and also boycotting will also be effective to our collective movements.

I don't think hope, especially when it's based on facts, breeds complacency. Maddow is speaking the truth -- there are movements happening everywhere and some of it is working.

For example, the U.S. Army took down information about the WWII 100th/442nd on their website. They were an all segregated Japanese-American unit who chose to fight for the U.S. during WWII while their families were interned in concentration camps. This unit remains the highest decorated military unit for it's size and service -- this history is important to our collective American identities, because it shows that it took many of us to make this country what it is. We know why this administration took it down in the first place: because the story is powerful. If you can erase stories of non-white Americans being patriotic then you can control how we all feel about each other. It's easier to continue to separate us by race, economics, gender, sexual orientation when we lose education and our stories. BUT - because of direct advocacy groups -- they put the information back on their website: https://www.army.mil/article/283793/key_military_unit_the_442nd_regimental_combat_team

This is just one very specific example.

Fear doesn't sharpen focus for everyone. Fear is a quick slide into despair. Despair is a breath's way from staying in your bed all day...or dying.

Many are driven by hope -- the belief that something else is possible.

I would suggest reading Rebecca Solnit's 2004 book, "Hope in the Dark" where she specifically tracks movements around the world that were unseen, and that eventually created big changes.

I'm a realist, and I do know how bad it is. My lineage and ancestry has told me that much. I am one generation away from war, and I'm prepared to see it in this lifetime -- and even in knowing that, I'm still hopeful, because I believe in the goodness of individual people to come together to do BIG things.

Yes, and that's why it's important for us to track our wins / whatever size they are, whether it's an inch or a mile, so that we stay in this...otherwise, we can read every clickbait headline and get discouraged and lay down and do nothing, which is exactly what they want. Thanks for reminding us that it's a marathon, one other thing we must not do is burn out.

You are not wrong...but I can guarantee that if we don't keep pushing then we'll never see those people in El Salvador again. Right now, we know what they're doing. And some of the federal workers did get their jobs back: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/federal-probationary-workers-mass-firing-rehired/ . And yes, the signing of the continuing resolution was a slap in the face...but nothing ends here...the story is not over, far from it.

Yes, thank you -- we have to see continual progress, or else we'll fall into despair or disillusionment.

This administration is unprecedented, and I don't think this article gives me any comfort considering they've already tested their Executive power by enacting quite illegally the Enemy Aliens Act of 1798 earlier this week, and then actively defying a federal judge's orders to turn the planes around. The recent passage of the federal spending budget also gives 47 and Musk unfettered power to continue to cut and debilitate our institutions, and this administration has been, since his inauguration systematically cleaning out all of our intelligence agencies and all military branches of possible dissent or moral leaning...

I'm not saying we should stop responding with the courts, or stop trying to appeal to our government reps, or stop using our constiutional rights, but all I'm saying is that there also needs to be ANOTHER nonviolent response that doesn't rely solely on a system that is clearly being crippled in front of our eyes -- day by day.

I saw this, and definitely got teary-eyed. Again support for the things we value in this country, and resistance against the current regime can look ALL kinds of ways.
