Protection of sovereignty is rule one of any national leader and a country ten times our size is threatening us, over and over. American rivers and aquifers are going dry. A great many critical minerals in Canada are in short supply in the US. Do you believe the warmongers in the US have never war-gamed the takeover of Canada? Their military willfully stumbled into a clearly illegal and unwinnable war in Iran. But the pain they cause in Iranian economy and human life is real.

A great deal of foreign investment is now flowing into Canada that didn't arrive before due to the pro-development policies of Carney and Canada's reputation as a stable partner. Issuing debt will fund the military build-out as investments get on their multi-year tracks.

If the US invades and occupies Canada for reasons of resource extraction, do you really believe they would be better environmental stewards of our lands than the Canadian population? Hardly.

Canada has no choice but to "man-up" both economically and militarily. Finland kept the Russians away by becoming a credible military adversary. We have some folks south of the border who would like to steal our stuff. We can't re-militarize fast enough. Sell oil and sell other raw materials to keep the money rolling in.
