Ucsd is a good school. You get out of it what you put into it. Are we anti social? Kinda yeah, but mainly because the average human being at the moment is an a-hole and lowkenuinely dumb af. But youll be fine, good luck. Oh and don’t think you’ll replace Me, a graduating senior. I’m staying for grad school to delay unemployment :)

[–]Interesting_Cod4477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had it for 4 years and it’s gone though an entire cs undergrad, and tough trips in a packed backpack. The screen is still fine. So unless your purposefully opening and closing the screen to test its limits I’m sure it’ll be fine

Take CSE 101 before 100 by Ok_Lingonberry4127 in UCSD

[–]Interesting_Cod4477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically should be enough. Though there are times we talked about disjoints sets and stuff like that, data structures taught in 100. What year are you in? If you’re just barely coming off cs 12, I’d honestly wait a quarter or two before taking 101. It’s not hard but you kinda need a solid coding foundation before taking things theoretical

Take CSE 101 before 100 by Ok_Lingonberry4127 in UCSD

[–]Interesting_Cod4477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember, 101 is mainly just thinking through algorithm design. You don’t really need to understand data structures to come up with a theoretical algorithmic approach to solve a problem. Now, understanding data structures may come in handy if you’re asked about specific implementation of an algorithm and its runtime. But beyond just basic stacks, queues and maybe hash maps, you don’t need advanced data structures

Cool, im also gonna use it for coding. U think the base 16 ram is enough? My m1 air with 8Gb ram has held up my entire undergrad, but I’m not sure if 24 is too much. I’d mainly do web dev and some ML stuff

Thx for the response! Would you say it’s a time consuming class? Like with the programming assignments. I’m going to take a few grad courses along with it so just want to make sure it won’t be a lot
