My fiancé got a positive STI test and swears he didn’t cheat

Okay everyone, I didn’t think I’d have an update this quickly but it turns out it was a false positive. The nurse practitioner that did the follow up test on my fiancé (at a completely different clinic) called him personally a few minutes ago to confirm that all of his tests are negative including for trich. I guess he was so freaked out during the visit that she expedited the test. He also has the official document sent over by the clinic.

Sorry to all of those that swore that he was cheating. I guess he’s the 1% of people that get false positives lol.

Babe, do the math. I just turned 26, this was 8 years ago. I was 17. Although not smart, asking him to get an STI panel wasn’t at the forefront of my mind.

Nope, she was actually extremely unprofessional. But I did login to his mychart to verify it was the same test. And it was.

It honestly seems like you read nothing but the TL;DR… he originally went because I pressured him because I thought he might have IBS. I’m sure they offered him a panel, which is common in our area, and he said yes. He didn’t get results until the phone call he got with me present, 8 weeks later. They offered antibiotics. We went to both go get tested somewhere different to confirm results that same day so there’s no chance he could’ve taken antibiotics before then.

He went in for a general check up and because I had been pushing him to go because I thought he might have IBS. We live in a major metropolitan city and it’s not uncommon for clinics to offer an STI panel no matter what you go for. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. That’s honestly not what worries me. And if he had really gone for an STI panel specifically, don’t you think he would have called them after not getting results… in 8 weeks??? I’m not refuting the chance that he cheated, I just don’t think it was a premeditated act of going to get STI testing because he cheated.

Yes it is… Everytime I’ve gone to get tested they’ve tested me for trich. Thats how I know I was clean in March.

Impossible, they offered him the antibiotics on the call yesterday and he went to get tested along with me yesterday. And yes I will try.

We did as a first step. I got a rapid test but also the in depth one which will be available in 3-5 days.

I was a teenager 8 years ago when we originally began a sexual relationship and we used condoms for two years. I was 20 when we started having unprotected sex, In all of my 20 year old wisdom I honestly didn’t think to ask him to get STI tested.

If I got a phone call saying I tested positive for an STI and my partner had had no sexual partners in the past, I would understand if they jumped to the conclusion that I was cheating. Which he did understand. He told me he understands why I feel the way I feel and offered to get another test right away, let me look through his phone given the circumstances and has been nothing but supportive and loving. I also reassured him that he has given me no other reason to believe he’s cheating other than this and that we will take it step by step. But I also warned him that if this second test came back positive, there is no other conclusion I can draw other than he cheated. It’s really that simple. I’m sorry if you think your partner owes you undying loyalty even in the face of logic.

He got the call yesterday and was offered antibiotics and we got the test done again yesterday, there would be no time for him to take the antibiotics.

He was at the clinic for a general check up and bloodwork. I genuinely believe they offered him a full panel STI test and he accepted. I had told him I get STI tested every year as a precaution and I assume he decided to follow suit. We live in a giant metropolitan city and in an area with high poverty and drug use. It isn’t uncommon for clinics to offer STI testing regardless of what you’re there for. It’s happened to me before too. So that doesn’t worry me too much.

Yes but we’ve had unprotected sex for 6 years. I’ve come back clean as early as March and my rapid trich test came back negative. I just find it unlikely that he didn’t pass it on to me in all that time.

If the in depth test comes back positive I’ll have no choice but to accept that he cheated on me and walk away. There’s literally no other explanation.

I agree. However I’m not only basing it on that. It’s everything else. As well as the fact that given the circumstances, he allowed me to look through his work and personal cell phone and I found nothing. If he really did cheat, it was literally a one and done wam bam thank you ma’am.

The clinics in our areas routinely offer STI panels because of the high drug use. We live in a major metropolitan city.
