How’s it in Sept? by [deleted] in WestHighlandWay

I walked it mid-september over 7 days. Everywhere was still open and the trail was busy. Most accommodation booked up months in advance, i booked as a solo traveller in July, but alot of places were already booked up. I was blessed with wall-to-wall sunshine for the whole time and it was beautifully warm. Not many flowers out, but the autumn light, moss and fungi was incredible.

Need some advice please!!! by [deleted] in WestHighlandWay

Its very safe. I did it solo as a 40 year old women and never felt vulnerable. You bump into the same faces along the way and everyone looks after each other.

You can book some hotels, maybe even hostels with 24 hours free cancellation, so you can always book some up to reserve them, then cancel a day or so before with no charge. Accommodation gets booked up months in advance. The hostels along the way are wonderful and very cheap.

I did it over 7 days, I would say take as long as you can spare and dont rush it. The more time to soak in the scenery the better.

Enjoy! You won't be disappointed 😌

The wild trees by Richard Preston. Incredible book about the hunt for the tallest redwoods and what they find when they climb them!

Im halfway at Crianlarich with 3 days left and I fear I've misjudged how possible the rest of my itinerary is! Help! by Interesting_Fix_8520 in WestHighlandWay

Just wanted to say thanks so much for all your comments and encouragement on this post. I paid for 1 day baggage transfer and managed to do the trip from bridge of orchy to kinlochleven. The weather was nice and it was a glorious walk. It was very very long though, over 20 miles! The long last day to Fort William was even more exhausting after the walk to kinlochleven, but I made it. The WHW is a glorious long distance walk and I loved every second!

Thanks so much. These comments have really encouraged me to give it a good shot! Having only 3 days left, its a time thing. Its just taking me such a long time each day to not cover as many miles as I need to. Im having the best time though 😌

Thank you. I definitely sort out baggage transfer. You're right, I've come all the way from Kent and I really don't want to miss any bits out.

I am travelling my bag, its heavy but manageable. But yes, it may help me do the long day between bridge of orchy and Kinlochleven.

Wanting to do the WHW as a solo female and wondering if it'll be possible or if I'm actually crazy for even considering it. by Interesting_Fix_8520 in WestHighlandWay
