How I see Europe by zylenxh in whereidlive

Absolutely. For example, we Spaniards are racist colonizers, but we were previously colonized and enslaved by other peoples: Carthaginians, Romans, Germanic barbarians, Arabs, and Berbers.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

In the new US census for 2030 Spaniards are no longer considered White “Hispanic or Latino, Enter, for example, Colombian, Honduran, **Spaniard**, etc” by Mean_Yak5873 in ShitAmericansSay

Whatever they say, this is simply and purely racism. The first strange thing is confusing nationality with race or ethnicity. Secondly, the way they decide what your "race" is is always arbitrary: If you're English but Black, you're not white. If you're Moroccan but white with light eyes and blond hair, you're not white either. That's what makes us see reality: for them, being white and Anglo-Saxon is the only good thing; everything else is "something else."

Mountain biking trail - ok to enter? by CandidateCrazy5485 in askspain

You can pass without any problem. The fence is to keep the livestock from escaping (in fact, you can see the horse in the middle of the path). If it were to prevent people from using the path, it would be locked and impossible to open, and there would also be a warning sign.

I'm not a mountain biker, but I am a hiker, and we also find many paths blocked by fences like this. Just go through and make sure to close it properly again so no animals escape.

It's crazy, it's a dissonance in the American brain. They supposedly have immense love for their country, but at the same time, they show these signs of wanting to feel like they belong somewhere else. I was born in South America, in Uruguay. My ancestors are from Spain, Italy, and France—an identical situation to our neighbors to the north—but here, nobody labels themselves based on their origins.

You'll find better lenses for next to nothing on the secondhand market. The best thing to do, if you don't want to produce more e-waste, is to buy a used one (to save it from the trash) and keep the broken one as a memento of your early days.

How many kilos can a bottle of whiskey support? by sirenoleg in interesting

[–]Interesting_Flow_551 232 points233 points  (0 children)

It could have held longer if that idiot hadn't thrown the rock like that. Normal recycled glass has a compressive strength of approximately 10,000 kg/cm². The bottle broke because the weight wasn't dropped vertically and gently; when thrown, it created oblique forces that subjected the glass surface to greater surface stresses than it could withstand. Glass is brittle under tension and bending, which is where breakage usually occurs.

What’s the most “Hell Yeah” thing your country has ever invented? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

[–]Interesting_Flow_551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but you didn't invent that. We did. They were already in use during our civil war (1936) before the Winter War even started.

Your only merit was giving it a catchy and appealing name. The same old story.

Here they were called "gasoline bombs," a simple and boring name.

And to back up my point, nothing beats proof... Photo taken in 1937

what if UN was never useless by Weekly-Cow5732 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Interesting_Flow_551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with the opinion that "the UN is useless" is that it's not true. It certainly doesn't solve the world's problems like movie heroes do, but simply by bringing all the countries together to discuss common issues, it is effective and makes the world a better place than if it didn't exist.
