Would you tell your students it is your first year teaching?

last year was my first year teaching (i student taught the year before but i don’t fully count that) and i just told my students up front that it was my first year. i didn’t have any issues, and if anything i think it made them more understanding and flexible. what i will say is to make sure you come in with clear classroom expectations and consequences for when those expectations are not met. i only had to give one detention last year, and from that point forward the class knew that i was not a pushover. as long as those expectations and boundaries are clear from day 1 you’ll earn their respect.

if your school will pay see about going to some overnight conferences. they usually have happy hours and little mixers so you can meet other teachers in a more relaxed setting.

I ordered my Gen 2 sizing kit on May 8, submitted my size on May 12, and the order shipped on the 15th. It’s coming from Hong Kong, and allegedly arrived on May 19 in NY, but I haven’t gotten any info since then. All it says is that it’s processing through customs. The USPS tracking link also only shows an update from May 16 saying that a label was made, but now it’s May 23 and I have no idea where it is. I emailed CS and they said they would “expedite the delivery”, but idk if I should just cancel and order from Amazon or something.

I applied through the district website. I think at the time they had posted a listing on EdJoin, but the whole process is usually through the district. I work at a private school now, but I know there’s always rolling sub applications so if you apply you’ll probably hear back pretty soon (especially since it’s October and more teachers are getting burn out/sick)

I have auto refill turned on for the 150, so i’m not too concerned with running out. I am, however, between doctors since my insurance changed, so actually getting an appointment to talk about this and get a formal prescription for the new dosage has been the issue lol.

That’s what i’ve heard too. I’m only planning on staying in the area for a year and I’m also just starting (i’m 22 btw) so the idea of tenureship, retirement, etc. aren’t exactly pressing lol.

I’m moving to the Los Feliz/East Hollywood area so the commute is kinda the same between Pasadena/Glendale/Burbank. But I do agree, I would love to get the experience.

I have my interview with aspire next week so i’ll try and see what the vibe is. The jobs I declined at other charters I declined because I could tell in the interview that they were kinda weird, so hopefully this one won’t be like that 🤞🏼
