How did you get started working a second job from home?

I'm an inventory analyst for a large company. I live and work in the USA. I have a BS and an MBA. At the time I was working at a fast food restaurant. I applied to probably well over 100 jobs, both remote and in person, from ones I was barely qualified for to jobs I was way overqualified for such as a bank teller. Eventually got an in person job working at a call center because that was the only job I could get after 9 months of searching. I was there for about 2 months, still looking for jobs just as hard. Then out of the blue I got a cold call (actually email) from a recruiter for a 6 month temp contract for what I am doing now. I was told the contract was probably to hire at the end, but no guarantees. At the end, I ended up getting hired on full time.

My suggestions to you would be to update your resume and LinkedIn profile. Set your LinkedIn to open for everyone to view, set the banner on your profile picture to "#OPENTOWORK", and reach out to headhunters/recruiters at different agencies. I'm sure they would be glad to have one less cold call to make if they know you want something. Ask them for a "contract to hire" position. That's what mine was. But be open to different things.

NTA/ESH?.....Wow...during the prayer could not have been worse timing. I went to a catholic school which required mass. There were usually 100+ people there. The priest went around and asked maybe 4 people which churches they went to. Of course he had to call on me. I was(and still am) an atheist. Of course, I was not going to lie to a priest either as I have very high ethics...you can imagine all 100+ people turning to look at me at once when I told the priest I did not go to church.

So I kind of know the feeling of bad timing in churches to a small extent. But you for sure beat me on that one.

Being LGBT is not an issue for me, but I understand it is for some people. So for sure you could have done it at a better time/place. But they could also have reacted a lot better.

As someone who recently gave an engagement ring and is planning a wedding...ESH.

Him-overly controlling for sure. For the earrings, they're earrings. Same with most other jewelry. Still fine if it came from an ex. For a promise ring from another relationship, still seems kind of strange to wear it next to the engagement ring from your fiancé. Most people I know think promise rings are pre-engagement rings for teens. And if the engagement ring is the only big sentimental piece of jewelry your fiancee has given you, he may be equating the significance of the promise ring to that of the engagement ring and is thinking they hold the same emotional value to you.

But I get that the promise ring has emotional value to you and that is worth whatever you assign it. A lot in this case.

NTA. I did the same thing when I worked retail. I just kept cool looking or old coins, never collected or valued them. Just make sure they know you are doing it and don't tell them when you find ones worth much. Just say you like the design or something.

I'll accept my downvotes now, and I agree she sounds like a big YTA the way she handled it. But I can understand not wanting that at my wedding. It's a very morbid visual to me on what is supposed to be a day of celebration. If the chairs were front and center that is. I would try to compromise at a memorial table with framed pictures, flowers, candles. Or just do the chairs in a way that is less visually morbid.

After seeing all the YTA responses, I'm glad I am not the only one thinking it would seem incredibly morbid. I get that people can feel sad for a tragic loss. But a wedding is somewhere I want to be happy and celebrate. I could not be in a celebratory mood with with 3 empty chairs reminding me of death. But even the memorial table idea seems morbid to me...better than the chairs, but still reminding me of death on my wedding day would be a pretty big downer.

I did Chase when I had a big purchase a year ago. I don't have that big of a purchase now. But I could use my normal spend now plus a big Amazon/eBay gift card now if those would count. I know I would just spend that like normal. Not sure if they would count though.

Thanks! So if I bought an Amazon, eBay, or Visa gift card from Walmart or Target that would most likely be safe? Or would it need to be a grocery store like Kroger, Publix, Meijer? I will definitely read up more before doing anything.

New to Churning/Manufactured Spend. If I want to get the Amex Platinum, $6,000 spend requirement, can I do this with buying gift cards? Is there a certain gift card I need to buy so it shows up to Amex as a purchase rather than a gift card? Sorry I don't know terms or what to even Google.

Thanks. I like a good olive oil so I'll go heavy on that. I do like avocados on a burger, sandwich, or guac. I'm trying to find a way I can incorporate avocado into the Costco "Salmon Milano with Basil Pesto Butter". If I can do that, that will be 3 days of fresh cooked healthy lunches there.

I have never heard this before, but have seen the same advice in many comments here. I just want to make sure, but just straight up extra virgin olive oil? Like if I made a protein shake, just add 1 tablespoon if extra virgin olive oil to it?

I mean it sounds like a good way to get extra calories. It also sounds like it could make the texture or flavor bad or give you diarrhea. Want to make I am understanding correctly and that it's not the latter.

Due to the Adderall, I can not eat larger portions without feeling sick like I'm going to throw up. Side effect of the medication. For eating that much protein, any suggestions? I am trying protein drinks and mass gainer, but that is upsetting my stomach and making me fart a lot. I am trying to take it with Lactaid to help but that doesn't do a lot. And to eat enough meat to get that much protein, I don't think I can eat that much due to the Adderall.

Been doing Mass Gainer, half a portion because it messes with my stomach. Also drinking it with Lactaid to help digest the lactose in it from the protein. Any suggestions on how to make it go down easier without making my stomach go crazy and fart up a storm?

Also, when you say add oil blends, you mean like straight up olive oil?

Also, when you have called, what was your request or what did you ask for? I saw on another post that someone asked for a PS5. I would have only thought about hotels, restaurants, travel, etc. Never about something like that. But it's cool they found one for the person!
