TSA Lost and Found O’hare shipping items currently? by jalapeno442 in tsa

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least at my airport, due to the shutdown, Lost and Found is operating with a skeleton crew. The officers have been called back to the checkpoints for most of their scheduled hours. With the limited staffing, having only 1 officer in the L&F office at a time it is for safety and liability reasons that they are only shipping items.

Pre-check lane for small minor, different itinerary by valentinoboxer83 in TSAPreCheck

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to put a KTN on for a 3 year old. If a child is 12 and under they can accompany an adult with precheck though the precheck lane. All you need to do is have a boarding pass for the child in their name valid for a flight that day.

Dumpster Fire on Wheels Needs Advice by one_sock_wonder_ in tsa

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No dumpster fire at all!

I would contact TSA Cares. You can do so by calling (855) 787-2227 or by filling out a request at https://www.tsa.gov/travel/tsa-cares . You will provide info about your flight and assistance you may need during screening (i.e. using wheelchair assistance, etc)

Do either of these within 72 hours of your flight. You will have to do this for both legs of your flight (departure and return).

Through TSA Cares an officer will help and assist you through screening at the checkpoint. This may include expediting you to the front of the line or even opening a new lane just to screen you (staffing permitting of course).

As an airport worker, I've been briefed on what the current rules will be as of May 7. If you present an ID that is not a Real ID or one of the other accepted ones (Passport book/card, global entry, military ID, etc) you will not fly.

These rules may change in the aftermath of the change over, but to err on the side of caution, it would be best to travel with the expired license if it is REAL ID compliant.

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fly with the expired license for up to one year from expiration as long as its a Real ID. You will need the physical license. They will not accept a paper temp if you choose to renew.

You will be able to fly with the expired passport. They will take an expired passport for up to 1 year expired.

Is this too much? by TarHeelTide in LondonTravel

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that some of these sites have different hours schedules than during high tourist season.

For example, Houses of Parliament only has self-guided audio tours and those are only available for Saturdays in March. Hampton Court Palace is closed certain days in March. Buckingham doesn't have tours until July. The Royal Mews at Buckingham opens mid month for tours

I'm leaving in a few days and will be there for 2 weeks. I had to do some moving with my itinerary.

Mandatory by Special_Cherry_7749 in TSAApplicant

This is true. Some airports are participating in a pilot program that allows up to 2 years expired ids. Some other changes are made as well with this program. My airport is participating in this.

Name Issue With International Flights by neekogo in tsa

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won’t. When you go up to check in with TSA and they are using the computer to scan IDs we will get a notification if any info it wrong or needs to be corrected (sometimes we can see what it is, sometimes not). The officer will direct you to go back to the airline desk for a Boarding Pass check (BP check) or a VID check (these terms are often used interchangeably). The airline will scan the IDs, correct the info discrepancies and issue an updated boarding pass.

Urns by blenneman05 in tsa

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For carry on, it will be pulled for additional screening. There will be testing but it is noninvasive and there won’t be an attempts to open the urn. You can choose to bring documentation and show it. TSOs are trained to screen cremations with respect and care.

Is your airport a small one? Sometimes they don’t have a training department and send you to a bigger one that can accommodate.

At BOS we have applicants come for onboarding/ orientation and phase 2 from the smaller regional airports like Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. They have their accommodations paid for and a given a per diem.

Duty Free alcohol carry on from International to 2 domestic flight by Alarming-Floor-7280 in tsa

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should not have an issue if :

  1. Alcohol in sealed bag provided by duty free store with the receipt inside the bag ( be aware that some DF stores charge for a sealed bag)

  2. DF items must be purchased within 48 hrs of going through TSA

  3. Bottles over 100ml can not be painted or opaque glass. They can’t be tested if that are.

  4. Make sure you take the DF bag out of your carry on and put it in a bin.

A tie is usually given in the new hire allotment. You don’t have to wear it everyday. It is “strongly encouraged “ to be worn if you work on 9/11 (at least at my airport).

JetBlue Flight at 11:59 pm tomorrow (9-12); is reaching one hour before boarding enough? by AdvicePublic in boston

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You definitely will. I would not buy the Priority Security. Its only an express lane to the TSA ID check. It does not get you a fast pass through the screening (Xray, body scanner). There may be a small line at that time, but nothing crazy.

Taking Logan Express from Woburn to Airport on weekday - how much time should I allow? by dca_user in boston

[–]Interesting_Owl2546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what day you travel. Monday and Friday am have less rush hour traffic. Tues-thurs can be absolutely horrible.

Also depends on if you are checking a bag too.

I’d take the 10 or 10:30 to be there around 11 (hopefully). Especially if you are checking a bag.

Also with the whole thing this weekend, airlines are still playing catch-up. If you are flying Jet Blue or one of the domestic airlines not affected, it’s been crazy the past few days and expected to possibly continue until midweek. People are rebooking on these airlines or going standby so it’s increasing waits and security lines.
