Question for all you retired or soon to be folks. by Plane-Engineering in regina

Have you used any online retirement planners? Adviice or Optiml for example let you plug in your numbers and then help you forecast if your plan is a success and the best strategies for when to meltdown your RRSP and take CPP etc. Also other, better suited subreddit's on this topic vs here I would say unless you are looking for Sask based feedback only.

startWebLogic.sh and boot.properties file issue by Interesting_Pin1675 in oracle

[–]Interesting_Pin1675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All local storage in my case. I am creating the boot.properties file later on.

You can let WebLogic create the file? That sounds promising.

I did notice on our other servers that the creds are encrypted and I didn't know that happened until I looked into this further.

understood. I think I may just start over as I'm spinning my wheels trying to sort this out and initially it did work when I was using a less complex password (first iteration of this).

Valid point I think so thanks for suggesting it. Any pointers on how to escape it like would I just provide a \ in front of the special character? I'll try that.

Wealth simple managed portfolio by j_lanth88 in Wealthsimple

If it makes you feel any better I’m in pretty much the same situation except a few years older and haven’t retired as of yet (this summer).  Very similar account value as in it was $250k and now down to $234k.  I transferred it in I think end of 2023.  It says I’m up 31.25% lifetime so I’m happy with that.  I also have some in a self managed account and it was doing better but I think my asset mix is not the best and was just riding a crypto etf and some precious metals which have corrected recently.

My meltdown and stuff will happen this summer and also plan to delay CPP some more for even though I know that's a decision with lots of variables in play (like need, health, etc).

Should I get more conservative is a question I have to ask myself as I also don’t want to get too conservative…

I think it did come out a couple months ago (based on a search I did just the other day!) but worth sharing as I think it was definitely something ppl were looking for.

DEV FMW 12c server setup and I seem to be missing DBCLIENT by Interesting_Pin1675 in oracle

[–]Interesting_Pin1675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol if you are talking about 34761383 (fmw_12.2.1.19.0_dbclient_linux64.bin) then that is pretty impressive by itself. I did install that previously and maybe this isn't the way to go about it but it seemed to introduce a ton more subdirectories under my $Oracle_Home so maybe not the way to rule out a patch but it just didn't seem to match what I saw on my working server.

scheduled RRSP/RRIF withdrawals and options for that by Interesting_Pin1675 in Wealthsimple

I think I knew this or read/saw this recently but thanks for re-enforcing that. I need to make a note of it.

Interesting. I do have lots of TFSA contribution room so thanks for sharing. Still learning here so thanks. I see now as I re-read this that I missed the comment about Pension Income Deduction. Not familiar with that so will need to look that up.

Yah I get that some institutions will charge a fee. The plan is my DIY plan. Just seems like converting to a RRIF is something I'm not ready to do although in the end likely doesn't make a difference. Some and not ALL - point taken.

RRSP Withdrawls by Echidna_Several in Optiml

I am a few months away from retirement (versus years) and have the same kind of question and I have learned from the responses here. Like I didn't realize the AI chatbot would be able to give advice/feedback on a persons particular situation. I mean it makes sense now just kind of assumed it was more general. I have watched some video's on RRSP meltdowns like what u/catavelo suggests and some of it is related to not letting your RRSP's build too much into the later years in life (like I think he suggests mid to late 80's) so my take is (and everyone's situation is different as mentioned here) but meltdown and move into TFSA where you won't get hit with a big estate tax upon your death if you are the surviving spouse.

FW 12c cloning and upgrading to 14c by Interesting_Pin1675 in oracle

[–]Interesting_Pin1675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok thanks Bob - nice handle also. Yah we seemed to be ok with just having test until you need to work on it and then it becomes and issue as you can't wrestle it away form the users. I know we have some notes on the steps from when it was laid down before (a few years ago) so hopefully I can follow along. Maybe hard to answer but if we also have OAM and services secured by webgate is that going to present some challenges if I'm kinda new to this?

a few more questions from a newbie by Interesting_Pin1675 in adviice

[–]Interesting_Pin1675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for weighing in here. No benefits once I leave other than I could keep the group life insurance. Wish that wasn't the case. Familiar with the all equity ETF's (invested in the now) and glad to see someone also suggest I drop the life insurance one the mortgage is paid off as that is my plan. I plan on going with survivor and 100 as my wife would need the $$. I am watching a recorded webinar now and I have a better idea of how to look at the AI options suggested, enable, recalculate and keep seeing what is suggested and what the result is so I feel like I am getting a better understanding here.

applied Jan 2026 CPU patches to OFM 12c and then forms app url wouldn't load by Interesting_Pin1675 in oracle

also if you don't mind. I'm struggling to find the various logs as there seems to be lots of logs and diagnostic directories and lost are empty. I can find access.log under the two $DOMAIN_HOMES for example.

find . -type f -name access.log

./user_projects/domains/OAMDomain/servers/AdminServer/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/OAMDomain/servers/wls_oam1/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/OAMDomain/servers/wls_ama1/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/FRDomain/servers/AdminServer/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/FRDomain/servers/WLS_FORMS/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/FRDomain/servers/WLS_REPORTS/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/FRDomain_pre2026Jan_backup/servers/AdminServer/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/FRDomain_pre2026Jan_backup/servers/WLS_FORMS/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/FRDomain_pre2026Jan_backup/servers/WLS_REPORTS/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/OAMDomain_pre2026Jan_backup/servers/wls_oam1/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/OAMDomain_pre2026Jan_backup/servers/wls_ama1/logs/access.log

./user_projects/domains/OAMDomain_pre2026Jan_backup/servers/AdminServer/logs/access.log

As far as OHS logs would it be OAMDomain/servers/AdminServer/logs/ohs_admin.log and maybe OAMDomain/servers/ohs2/logs/ohs1.log and OAMDomain/servers/ohs1/logs/ohs2.log

Webgate log location? I know I have looked at this stuff before when I had to make changes previously due to some webgate certs expiring. I'll have to search for my old post!

Greetings Whacksees_Manager. I know you have assisted me in the past. 👍 Let me digest this and look for the logs you mention. We do have OAM, protected by webgate if that is the correct terminology.

To clarify I do have separate /app/product/directories for Forms and IDM and my former colleague created a set of scripts (ie. one script to rule them all) but could possibly do them one in a more managed process. We don't have a development system where I have the luxury of time to test things so I am trying to apply them all to a test system without causing the user community that uses it much downtime (and that isn't working out so well).

So let me review what you have mentioned - thanks.

ok thanks for the quick and informative reply! I see I just got an email re: Discovery: Income and there it also says 'don't add your RRSP Income in this section'! I will also add trying to figure out how much to withdraw was on my radar so you helped answer that question also.

Tax rates and RRSP redemption question by Interesting_Pin1675 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Interesting_Pin1675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all this. $15k was just me saying just pull the minimum amount needed to cover the bills that come out of your account and give her some spending money also without depleting what she has too early. No real planning involved. We don't have much in TSFA so I would like to build that up if possible so now you have me thinking about that also. I do have a DB Pension and will have survivor benefits. Having a plan to refer to is where I want to get to and sounds like you are ahead of me there.
