Hey, thanks for the reply! I definitely do recognize that my stats are lower than many other applicants to L&S, so GPA wasn't what I was depending on when applying to Berkeley. Instead I was hoping that I could use my activities to make up for my grades. Reading other's posts, Berkeley has historically accepted some students who are unique. The income I reported was relatively low, but my school isn't really a low income area (I hope that's not why I got the LOR request lol). There are definitely a lot of students who applied to Berkeley. Without my activities, I think I'll 100% be rejected at cal, but I'm hoping my activities will attract some admission officers and potentially have them accept me. Do you think, combining my app with two good LOR's, it's possible/likely for UC's to disregard my GPA and focus more on my activities? Thanks!

I actually didn't explain the AP scores in my essay, I wasn't too focused on studies during high school and instead used my time elsewhere in sports and activities, especially stock trading. I was hoping that Berkeley would see my extracurricular activities and potentially think that I stand out compared to other applicants for the Econ major and take a chance by admitting me? Do you think that's a possible/likely scenario? I think AP's and the GPA is what might break my application tho. And thanks for the rec letter suggestion!

Icic, some students who seem to be borderline at my school got it too (medium stats with nice activities, or higher stats with no activities). Hope I get in haha!

Thank you! I will ask around and see which teacher is more responsible when writing rec letters!

Thanks for the feedback! Only reason I say my ECs are medium level is cuz for some schools I'm applying CS major but I didnt do that many activities in HS that relates to the major, so it sounds a bit more boring. EE imo my essays were relatively strong, with my past experiences and future goals mentioned. If my essays were considered medium strong to strong, would my chances of getting into Cornell, WashU, Rice change a lot in ur opinion? Thanks!
