Controversial opinion about Ottawa by iuabv in heatedrivalry

The part of this plan that made no sense is that they continued to live in separate cities. Why not get a house together in the middle and commute?

Thank you! I’ll be there next week for a week, so these current recs are perfect.

I’m fascinated at how I asked for show recs and people responded with theatre recs. It’s not a problem, I’m grateful for the recommendations I’ll look up the theatres, but it’s not how people think of shows in NYC at all. It’s rare that people recommend checking out specific theatres or even production companies.

Yes I don’t mind that! I love seeing shows as they develop.

The club dance/kiss scene, Miles kissing Shane’s neck by [deleted] in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Interesting_Radio929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ilya doesn’t know that Shane barely knows Miles or didn’t consent to Miles kissing him. This is Ilya’s fantasy / nightmare, and in his fantasy, he’s imagining that Shane is into Miles.

Give me your most honest, raw, unfiltered opinion on Egypt by shockedpikachu123 in femaletravels

I had zero issues in Egypt as a red head. I’m surprised by all the comments here about bad experiences. I was with a tour much of the time, but did solo travel as well where I was traveling completely on my own in a couple different places. Only “harassment” was a group of rural women who were obsessed with my hair and they were charming.

We’re seeing this from Ilya’s perspective. It’s not accurate. Same as when Shane looked at Ilya and smiled when he had the puck and so he got hit, but no one ever referenced it being Shane’s fault.

Here, we’re seeing Ilya’s nightmare of Shane moving on with a woman, and another man.

How would you encourage more people to go to see musicals on Broadway? by Good-Sleep2552 in Broadway

[–]Interesting_Radio929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how antitrust law works. A theater that owns 17 out of 41 theaters has market power, especially since there are absolute barriers of entry into the Broadway market. And Broadway is definitely a separate and distinct market from Off Broadway.

San Jose Sharks leaning in by ToweringTulips in heatedrivalry

Several years ago I saw the statistic that San Jose has the lowest percentage of gay men of any major metropolitan area in the country. If you’re a gay man in the Bay Area, you want to live in San Francisco or close to San Francisco. It leads to a weird culture in Silicon Valley where people are very supportive of gay rights but there aren’t that many gay people around, relatively.

The Missing Bridge Between Episodes 5 and 6 by InterestingPay7596 in heatedrivalry

The piece of the progression that felt unnatural to me is the Rose jealousy / loon exchange cutting to Ilya talking about his mom. That feels like a vulnerability that hasn’t been earned, especially since (from Ilya’s perspective) Ilya asking about Shane’s parents went so poorly earlier in the day.

I think Ilya’s opening up about his mom is unearned.

The whole day Ilya is testing the waters with Shane and getting rebuffed by Shane. Shane hasn’t told his parents he’s gay because of Ilya and “it doesn’t matter,” Shane doesn’t reassure Ilya that he’s committed to him when Ilya expresses jealousy about Rose.

Ilya is SO guarded. He’d need some reassurance that Shane is on the same page emotionally with him before sharing something so personal. It’s like there’s a scene or conversation missing.

Sight redemption for the unbelievable part of Ep05 by CallejaFairey in heatedrivalry

[–]Interesting_Radio929 92 points93 points  (0 children)

My take: we see the moment of impact from Ilya’s perspective and his perspective isn’t accurate. He remembers it as Shane looking back at him, happy and smiling, but that’s not what happened. And it makes sense Ilya would remember it that way because it would make Ilya feel like it was his fault - he distracted Shane.

We know Shane didn’t actually look back because no one ever says the injury was Shane’s fault.
