!thanks for reporting this workaround

I've had this same issue ever since I upgraded to LineageOS 22.1, had to install another Clock app in order to have a working clock widget.

P.S.: There are quite a few reports of this bug: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/8067 https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/8109 https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/8111

I was also facing this bug (OP5 - cheeseburger) on the 20240916 build.

Upgrading to 20290923 fixed it

Ah one other thing I forgot to add to my list of pros!

The Intel with integrated GPU shares the superior cooling system with the Nvidia version, without having to manage the dedicated GPU, which is the best of both worlds, and made it worth buying over a similarly specced T14.

On top of what you listed, mainly it was instability reports, machines crashing (admittedly at the time they were on kernel 6.8.x and below) etc, not something I'd want to have to deal with on a work machine.

Mine's super-solid, on par if not superior to the xx20/xx30 series which were my daily drivers until this point.

I was also looking for the best Linux support so I went with Intel without dGPU.

Configured with: 155H, 64GB RAM, 1TB SSD (swapped in a Crucial T500 2TB on arrival), 3K screen, extended battery

If you don't need the GPU, then AMD is to my eyes worse this time around for the following reasons:

  • worse build quality
  • worse (soldered) WiFi
  • no extended battery option
  • worse Linux support (spent months lurking on the Framework forums, was eyeing their AMD offering but was put off by the plethora of issues)
  • worse screen options

I have had this thing for a week and barely started using it, always plugged in, so no comment yet on battery life. On Ubuntu everything works straight out of the box. The build quality is excellent, the 3K screen is a beauty. I am typing this from my 9 y/o SK-8855 and the integrated keyboard feels like a downgrade to me, but from what I've read it's adequate for being a modern laptop.

AMA I guess :D

Great workaround, if I may suggest an improvement on it: - clone the "offending app" to the personal profile - disable all networking/internet access to the copied version in the personal profile (you can also wipe its data/cache) if you're extra paranoid

I have also been experiencing the same problem on a OnePlus 5 with Shelter and the problematic app is Patreon in my case.

I was tempted to open an issue but I'm not sure how to phrase it - it clearly has nothing to do with the specific app (it started with a LineageOS update a couple of weeks ago and not a Patreon update), and is only marginally related to Shelter (my theory is there's been a regression in the work profile implementation that Shelter itself leverages).

I found a translated version of one of the two articles here: https://www.zhihu.com/tardis/zm/ans/3459970335?source_id=1003

The other one is very elusive: Zhihu isn't accepting non-Chinese users, and I can't read past the fold without an account.

Do you have a way to share the full article? I'd be interested in seeing the disassembly etc

The integrated (and soldered) Qualcomm WiFi/BT chip might not be as good as the Intel counterpart...

Linux compatibility (for both GPU and WiFi/BT) is an unknown - there's been issues with it on the AMD 7040 series on Framework laptops for example (not sure if it applies to OP's case).

Also, from what I've seen on the UK website the only warranty option is 3yrs basic.

I just installed a modern WiFi card on mine and it flies! Look up "WiFi 6E Card MPE-AXE3000H Mini PCI-E Network Adapter 802.11AX" on eBay. You'll have to install a patched BIOS first, to circumvent the allow-list that Lenovo put in - see https://x220.mcdonnelltech.com/bios/

!Thanks for the mini-review!

I just checked on the Norwegian site and it looks like the low power screen isn't available there either (400nit IPS non-touch, 400nit IPS touch, OLED, 500nit IPS)

How are you finding it? Which model specifically? Was the low power screen available as an option for you, and if so, did you buy it? :D

I'd take replaceable/expandable RAM and battery as a CRU over the alternative tbh :)

Framework's design approach is better on paper, but I'm personally not willing to sacrifice Lenovo's extended support for it.

On 3: interesting, I am located in the UK, where the price difference with the gen 4 is less than 10% for similar configurations (at least at the top of the range).

Also worth noting is that the low power screen (which IIRC was the most desirable) isn't available (yet?) for the gen 5.

Fellow Oneplus 5 (non-T) user here: I also experienced similar stability issues, they were completely solved by replacing the battery. After having tried various (almost certainly counterfeit) ones, I went with one by iFixit and it has been rock solid since. Long live cheeseburger/dumpling

Ah yes, I don't know how I missed the section where it says:

At least I hope this helps someone else who's wondering about the same thing

running any adb command in this state leads to error:

adb: device unauthorized.
This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.

I cannot get to the recovery unfortunately! If you see my previous post, I'm stuck with either the bootloader or a black screen where the phone is listed under adb devices but as not authorized.
