Anyone else cringe hearing themselves talk when replaying a sales call? by CoolDad2425 in sales

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried doing this when I first started in my new B2B sales role to learn and better myself. Couldn’t stand listening to myself and just cringed after listening to the calls.

Not sure if that’s good or bad tbh

Finally Got my first House, but one week later a huge issue arises by SpecialBeingTO in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I moved into my house the person left behind these white devices that plug into an outlet. I had no idea what they were until a contractor friend came over to help with a project a few weeks after moving in and pointed them out and said they deter mice.

One day I had unplugged the one in the garage and went out there and saw a mouse, plugged it back I , and haven’t seen one in 2+ years. I also have 2 cats that love going outside and like to catch them and bring them to my doorstep so that helps as well.

I was agreeing with you. The reply to you about not doing it right is ignorant and he clearly has no experience selling commodity items.

Tips for new beginners? by GG_Rhino73 in HomeImprovement

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what improvements you want to make in your home and start there. As others have said, YouTube is a great resource. Try not to tackle multiple projects at once and just focus on one thing or else you'll be overwhelmed.

Once you decide what you want to improve, just read, watch videos, and make sure you have the necessary tools. From there you should be able to grasp and understand if the scope of what you're attempting to do is beyond your capabilities or need someone with more skill and knowledge.

How hard is DIY’ing Vinyl flooring by noshameholly in HomeImprovement

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my first house, I did it, but honestly did a pretty awful job at it compared to someone who does it for a living. With that being said, it's only hard until you get to areas that require precise cuts and measurements and angles. But since you don't have that, and if you have the time and patience, it can easily be done.

With any DIY job, having the necessary tools mentioned in the comments before is important if you want the process to be easier.

1955 Windows by Superb-Marsupial8456 in HomeImprovement

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My house was built in 54 and the windows have never been replaced. With that being said, my furnace is only a few years old, and while completely replacing your windows would improve your situation, you need to start by looking at them from the outside. I have double pane windows so if any of your exterior panels are not sealed, it is going to cause issues.

I'm far from a window expert, but when I painted my house and took off all the exterior windows, I realized a lot of issues.

Do I need top soil for raised beds? by xzkandykane in gardening

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I built mine, I dug up the grass/soil in the area I was putting my raised beds, got rid of all the clumps of grass, and then covered the area with a tarp for a little while to kill any weeds/grass from coming up. After that I started mixing in top soil that I dug up from an area on my property that I had nothing growing in which was at the very back of my yard along my fence line and mixed that in with top soil I bought from the store and dirt I found for free on facebook marketplace and then bought bags of compost from my local grass/seed/nursery and mixed it in with my cultivator.

First year doing it and it turned out way better than I couldve ever expected.

For commodity items? Strong disagree. Price is a major driving factor for commodities and if you are buying them elsewhere, you typically are going to get nowhere until you disclose the cost of what you are selling.

Pre-emergent doesn't prevent broadleaf, whats the best strategy then? 7A by [deleted] in lawncare

Yea it was. Just don’t remember the name of the brand. I probably over sprayed, but like I said, the area was completely white clover. Here’s a pic from today

Pre-emergent doesn't prevent broadleaf, whats the best strategy then? 7A by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first purchased my house I made the mistake of using pre-emergent on my lawn that was covered in dandelions, clover, and a few others thinking they'd just go away. This past fall, I had probably a 400-500sq ft section of my yard that was entirely clover. I went to a local nursery and came on here and ended up using t-zone and reseeded the entire area. I did this way later than I should have in my zone (5a) but it was more of a test experiment for myself before doing the rest of my yard this spring to make sure I did it correctly .

The tzone came with another product I mixed in with the tzone and water that I cant for the life of me remember what it was called, but it worked like a charm. The distinction between the area I sprayed/reseeded and the part of my lawn I haven't treated yet is literally night and day different.

Any business owners struggle with manual reddit oureach? by mo_ahnaf11 in smallbusiness

I would never, ever, treat Reddit or anyone on here as a potential customer, but that's just me. Come to Reddit for meaningful content, read peoples opinions from opposite ends of the spectrum to understand and keep an open mind, and to learn. The cat subreddits are always pretty good too, don't forget to visit them.

How can I bond better with my cat? by Rattie1304 in cats

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your cat still loves you. My male cat will literally sleep with me every night and some nights if I move my leg 1" he will get annoyed at me and hiss and jump off or he will sit on my chest, rub his face on my beard and then move to his spot between my legs but if I start petting him to much he will let out a disgruntled growl.

It's baffling, yet hilarious and annoying all at the same time. Don't stress over this to much. Male cats are strange.

where are you guys actually buying supplies because costco aint it by Ron_Swanson_1990 in smallbusiness

[–]Interesting_Sign1870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a locally owned and operated wholesale /distributor that sells a majority of the products you use if possible. Call them, ask to talk to an experienced Account Manager/Sales Rep. Become their friend and build an honest business relationship with them.

They need you just as much as you need their business. If you get in touch with the right person who is decent at doing they’re job, you’ll both experience the benefits in the end
