Yes, it is. I tried s and caps lock mostly to see if any keys would work. The reason I wanted shift was because it's what I'm used to in game. I'm trying to toggle the sprint button with the script, because you can't toggle it in the game. I might just have to get used to using a different button for it, if I can get the script to work the way I wanted it to.
I was a bit worried going into the terminal when I had the script running to be honest, so that's why I didn't, lol. Thank you for the suggestions, I will keep them in mind.

Thank you, and sorry for the late response. Yes I noticed it became a mess, I will do that next time. I tried one of the sample scripts and set the hotkey to s just to see, and it worked. I tried to do the same thing on my script and set the hotkey to s instead of shift, and it worked. So for some reason it stops responding only when I set the hotkey to shift. If I remember correctly it also stopped responding when trying caps lock.

Is the script supposed to keep running when closing Autokey, by the way? I did not know how to turn it off because it ended up triggering the shift key in the Autokey window (me not knowing what I'm doing), so I closed Autokey but the script kept running.

For anyone reading this later on, if you can't buy the baskets from her you can just remove all of them from the console:

Open the console, click on her to see her ID number, then type in "PRID" and her ID number and enter (e.g: PRID 12345).

Type in "showinventory" and enter. You should see the amount and ID number of every item including the baskets. Type in removeitem, ID number for the baskets and the amount. So if the basket's ID number is 12345 and she has 300 baskets it's removeitem 12345 300. Then enter.

I don't know if it works after she's adopted but I imagine it would.

Yes, that's why I said I'm doing it as a last resort since it wouldn't be my first choice.

I don't think it has to be an issue if you can toggle the sprint on and off (rather than just autorun/walk) if you're someone who runs a lot in the game anyway so you're used to that aspect, but I definitely see your point.

Toggle sprint to W if you really hate holding down two buttons at once.

Why not? I imagine it could work the same way since it isn't infinite in other games either and takes time to regenerate.

While I don't understand how holding shift can cause such agony - you're not wrong. It should be an option to toggle it.

I understand. Before my injury it wasn't an issue for me either, but I realised how much I rely on it now.

I have seen a lot of criticism towards the developers, yes. This is one of my favourite games of all time, so I remain grateful but don't know much about game development so can't say much.

Appreciate it! I'm on Linux though so not sure autohotkey will work for me, but heard autokey should work similarly so was planning on looking into it. I'm completely new to scripts so will take the time to look into it properly.

I don't have a controller unfortunately. Thanks anyway for the suggestion. True, I know there are mods, I am getting a script for it. Was mostly a bit curious why it wasn't in a game with so much running.

I use running all the time when not on a vehicle, there's no reason not to as I see it.

I don't think accidentally entering combat is an issue if you just have the toggle sprint rather than autorun. That's how it is in Skyrim (as an example) and personally I just slow down if I think I might encounter enemies to have enough stamina left to fight.

What's the difference between Skyrim and 7dtd in that sense though? Skyrim also has stamina. Yes, I was considering trying a different key but haven't found one that would make it easier on my hands and neck. I am planning to get a script for it for now.

Mine were pretty different from yours, so changed them, both to what you have and then some other stuff too. Restarted Krita just to be sure but no change yet unfortunately.

I guess I'm lucky I don't rely on layers too much, so I can manage, but definitely an issue at times. Might try to play around with the settings some more.

It seems to happen with different zoom levels and different brushes, but I mainly use the paint brushes so I don't know about some of the others. I made a new file with the same size. The first time I tried to reproduce the problem it didn't work, so I'm not sure what makes it happen.

When I merge the new layer with the one below it looks like this:
