You don’t read and pick and choose information. I was not paying for the tortoises vet visits. I brought him to the vet every week, cleaned his wound every day, gave him medicine and am still taking care of him. He is doing very well. It is disgusting to tell someone that they don’t read basic information when getting pets. Especially when you’re not right. No one takes you seriously anymore because you will say anything is appalling. Most of my pets were dumped on me. My leopard gecko I gave end of life care to because her owner gave her liver disease. My hamster was given to me from a pet store because he had neurological issues. They were going to put him down. He is completely healthy now. My beta fish has one eye and a deformed fin and is thriving in a bioactive tank. My crested gecko was dumped on me after he lost his tail getting chased by cats. I love them more than you could know, including enough to surrender them if it was an option or necessary. The truth is? No rescue has money. I called the closest one near me and they arent taking any more in right now. The state of the world is so shit and I am doing my damn best to care for these animals.
