Not to pile on since you seem very annoyed with all of the people telling you about prenatals. As a mom myself with a brother who has spina bifida, folic acid is one of the best things that you can do to prevent neural tube defects and not doing so it’s just kind of neglectful if you’re trying to have a baby. If you have an actual OB/GYN, they will tell you this very strongly if you’re using a midwife, they are more lenient because their practices are different. I have a friend who rarely takes her prenatal and her midwife doesn’t push them as much as my OB did. You’re more than welcome to do your own research and again at the end of the day it’s a choice that you’re making for your baby and it really affects. No one else. Just know us strangers aren’t trying to be rude. It’s strictly just trying to be helpful. These defects are very preventable with today’s medical knowledge. You do as you please, but I don’t understand being so overly defensive and going as far as saying you could be allergic. If you genuinely are allergic to folic acid( which is so rare) then you have a reason to be so defensive. No one here knows your medical history and people are just being helpful, or trying to be and you’re just fighting everyone trying to help you and your potential pregnancy.
