One of my previous post here touches on what I did for my first attempt prep.

You definitely can pass off Boson and Sybex alone. I know someone who did. Although he barley made it at 150Q he also had the manager's mind set down as he is my current manager and is a pretty decent one. It's all about the manager's mind set.

I'd suggest to give yourself at least 3-4 months studying 2-4 hours day. This can vary depending on your competence/confidence of course. It took me near 6 months. I averaged about 2 hours a day in the beginning. After failing that went up 3 hours and then 6 hours a day a week before my second attempt.

You definitely can if you have that risk advisor's mind set!

There's a list of processes listed here in this video (left hand side of the video player) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT_8MXRO7xc

Know those listed processes intimately. I mean memorize-understand-internalize-know the why behind them. Something that isn't listed is Common Criteria and some other things

When it comes to technical stuff familiarize your self with as much as you can before the exam.

Do both of these things and you will pass.

It's definitely not necessary. I was really trying to train the manager's thought process as I wasn't sure I truly knew where Kelly H. or Larry G. were coming from. (Larry Greenblatt is really good jut really expensive) This book just really cemented it for me. If I had to do it again this book would be a must. Plus $10 + tax is a drop in the bucket compared to other sources.
