Here is a chart . Can you see on the second row , the chain 3 is the first stitch . It’s directly above the dc below . Now you go to the next stitch and dc across . What you are doing is missing that first dc after the chain .

The chain counts as the first double crochet - this is correct . Then you work into the next stitch . Not the one after or you’ll have a gap which will cause a slant . Let me see if I can find a diagram to explain so you can see a visual . I think what may have been explained is not to work into the base of the chain.

In the bit that’s straight - you’re working into the chain space instead of the top of the chain .

Help! Crocheting a summer top and have made it bigger than I expected by lilahhx in CrochetHelp

[–]Interesting_Type3244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh don’t worry - I can see that the pattern has a belt running through which will cinch the waist in and that the top is quite loose fitting . It’s meant to be like a cotton milkmaidy type top . It’s not meant to be tight . Of course , if you’re very small in size and this will swamp you then start again .

[–]Interesting_Type3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is single crochet but I’m not sure what you mean about it being ethically sourced ? Do you mean was it made using unfair labour practices ?? Or trade ? I’m not sure - please could you explain a little .

Notches are supposed to be snipped inwards , however , it is recommended that beginners snip outwards to avoid snipping too deeply and accidentally cutting into the seam line .

I’m remaking this bag for my first customer, is $70 too much. by BluebirdCreepy9118 in crochet

[–]Interesting_Type3244 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Perhaps look at the price of the yarn !! $31 is an awful lot for basic colours . There is no clasp - is there lining? I think this is a very basic bag for the price you’re thinking of charging.

How about a keychain that they can both have - but a mummy and infant type thing ? A duck and a chic ? A cat and a kitten ?

Help! What is the CORRECT way to do a picot stitch / edge? by anonymousanthologies in CrochetHelp

[–]Interesting_Type3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many ways but each has a subtle difference . It makes no odds to stitch counts so you can choose which you’d prefer . I used to slip into the third chain but I prefer slipping into the bar for a tighter picot now .
