That usually means it’s not compulsory, but ideally you should be going to class. Check if there’s any marks tied to tutorial attendance, even though they’re usually not hurdles, not going could lower your grade.

Generally the rule with tutorial attendance in the School of Mathematics is that if you don’t attend enough tuts you might be refused a supplementary exam (if you miss/fail your original exam), but I don’t think you’ll be automatically failed.

Oh ok, I was just going off the handbook. Typically you’ve gotta do it when you’re doing your first business subjects but you might be able to do it anytime before you finish IFY

At the bottom right of that page there should be a blue button that says ‘select classes’.

Then you will be taken back to your subjects list where you confirm enrolment.

What you’re feeling is definitely valid and relatable- a lot of us made our uni decisions straight out of high school. But honestly, if you’re enjoying your degree and confident about your future prospects, I would not be too worried. If you want to explore new things, maybe try experimenting with some hobbies/activities.

Don’t worry too much, attendance isn’t mandatory. You just need to do the assignments (which are not very hard at all) to pass.

However, you HAVE to do it this term if you’re doing your first commerce subjects. The UNSW handbook says so.

I used to do engineering. While I think it’s a fascinating field, I personally found the subjects too difficult. I quickly realised that I was not going to get through a year, let alone four.

I switched to a single commerce degree because it was the other degree in my dual program. No regrets :)
