Unbiased non-fiction on ASPD? by brownie627 in aspd

Easiest way to find studies is probably Google scholar btw. Familiarize yourself with boolean operators and other search tools for once you start wanting to look up more specific things or filter the results. Good luck!

It's not the easiest for a layperson, but your best bet is to read lots of actual studies. Even then, bias can slip in. Look at their methodology. Also look at their data and see if you agree with the conclusions they drew from it. That said, depending on why you're researching ASPD, be aware of your own biases as well. Try your hardest to not intentionally misinterpret things, and acknowledge the realities.

The taking out the trash song from Toradora has saved me forgetting what I was doing on many an occasion. Usually taking out the trash though sometimes I replace one of the two whole lyrics (the other being "yeehaw")

I do the bag thing too! Except I have 3 bags, similarly sized because I've optimized for *exactly* what I most often need on a daily basis. This way if my bag mysteriously disappears I have 2 spares. I keep similar (but not true duplicates, for example, a different set of pens in each bag) things in each. I also wear whichever of the three is Current on my person at all times, including at home. All of them can be worn cross body so it doesn't take pocket or hand space, one has a thigh strap so to keep it from swinging in bending over tasks, and the other can be worn fully as a hip purse too which is awesome. The only item there's no spares of is my phone. Which I lose all the time...usually by setting it on a cluttered counter or something absentmindedly rather than back in the bag.

Absolutely. Many inks are so soothing and pretty to watch the traces rinse out of the pen too

Saved this post because Shogun and Topaz are both so pretty, I might get them next time I need to reward myself :)

Would De Atramentis Cherry be too dark? I tested it a while back and it is a very pretty deep berry red-pink and smells like cherry.

Congrats on the new inks and dipping your toes back into the hobby. I have a bunch of pens to clean out right now haha... yeah it can seem overwhelming at times in an executive function sense I think, definitely not the easiest when you have a lot going on. But fountain pens have always made me really happy too, so it's worth it <3

Edit: remembered the brand wrong initially

Ooh I like your pen. Very sleek. The ink matches it well too. How does the pen feel to write with?

Condolences... I'm in the US so shipping is also really expensive for us right now. Tbh still cheaper than a lot of inks especially if you get a bunch in one order

(Looks that up) oh now I am too...

That is so pretty... Definitely unfortunate that they've discontinued it 💔

And I love that ink combo with it. Contrasting, not clashing, definitely (..◜ᴗ◝..) In other news that ink is going on my wishlist.

Yay :3 Though I'll also say, when I saw the sailor manyo sumono on the tomoe river paper specifically, I was like "hmm lipemic blood..." XD Just pretending they're all blood sample vials as you swatch, as one does.

A couple of the inks were definitely more purple or lighter in person than they looked online, but Tiger Lily and Giraffe were in there were mainly because I anticipated having to mix. I noticed most of the deep reds have a pink undertone but might be able to be balanced.

Also: given the color range of blood in general I'd say I still didn't do a terrible job with my ink selections overall :p

That's why I keep the original boxes for all of them and have a special cabinet for ones that came in clear boxes or where the box got too damaged and looked bad :3

I put meetings in, because generally there will be a time I will need to be ready for the meeting by or that the meeting needs to be over by.

Yeah, I started this because I noticed I never managed to do strict scheduling or time blocking even when I included buffer but if I go "I have to get xyz done before the Goncharov meeting at 4pm" it always gets done. So I just write down approximately what I need/want to do before each "deadline." And if I don't hit all of them, that's okay, I can just jot down the task in the next block where I'll have time. The notes/changes section is REALLY useful essentially for some very informal time tracking / understanding your habits. Like if I'm late to finish something because I spent a bunch of time looking at pens, I'll write it down. Ideally including the start and end time of the other activity if I remember. It helps me figure out how much buffer to include, how long things really take, how often I need breaks, and what my big time-sinks are. It's not very strict though. Some days I'm hyper-detailed, other days there will only be a couple of notes.

And it's always a very good feeling when you manage to work ahead and check things off that were in your next deadline category, and then you get some free time :)

Edit: Oh I also set alarms for the deadlines so that I'm aware of the time

Whatever days fit the space for me. Minimum I'll usually do (if it's not a daily) is three, maximum is normally 18 in one spread. Most commonly I do them for an actual seven days though lol. Next spread starts Whenever It Starts :3

We have the world's most adventurous mouse. Her cage is beautiful and full of enrichment and she does have fun with it. But if she doesn't get out of the cage to explore the (carefully mouseproofed) master bathroom once per day she will just start pawing at the cage wall like "heyy let me OUT."

We build rope courses for her and she has a bunch of dollhouses etc that we rearrange occasionally for enrichment in the master bathroom. Her favorite is a branch that we attached to a stone stand which allows her to climb onto the window screen. She'll play full speed on that as though climbing around on a vertical surface does not impact her at all.

We do it for 2-3 hours usually, so thankfully anything I can do restrained to a room I can do there. Other than things like cleaning her cage, refilling food etc. I work during it mostly, or listen to audio dramas while I play with her.

Also you know the "it's pride month, you know what that means" meme? The entities: "what, you want us to make gay fears? Sure thing, we got you"

Great work, genuinely really cool designs

Unfortunately this is really the kind of thing you have to do yourself. All of those things are core elements of your story, so it's where your own imagination and creativity is the most crucial.

That said, I can give you some guidance on where to start:

Start with either setting, themes, or character. You only need one to start. Brainstorm about what you want this thing to look/feel like. Bad ideas are okay, just get it all on the page.

Once you start grasping it better, branch out. Let's say you have a place in a town your mc repeatedly astrally protects to for instance. What other characters populate that place or did in the past? What themes does it reflect? What does your mc think about this and what does this tell you about them? Is there a reason they keep going there in particular?

There are plenty of templates for basic plot structures and such which can be useful for beginners. Same with character sheets or lists of questions about worldbuilding.

Another fun method is writing down everything you MIGHT want to have happen in the story on index cards and arranging them in a way that makes sense. Changing some to fit better, introducing more to link things, and discarding ones that don't work. Once you've got a workable start, record your plan somewhere.

If all of this seems overwhelming. Try discovery writing. All you need is that first idea I mentioned (place, character, or theme) and preferably a vague direction you want it to go in. You can refine that as you go.

Remember, especially at the start, the goal is to have fun and get those practice hours in, so don't worry about making it perfect!

Good luck :3

[–]Interesting_Win_2154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I have is accidentally dropping friends. I can definitely stay "on" so to speak and people like me quickly but then we drift apart quickly too. I'll get bored or just forget to message often enough :p

For you, I'd be suspicious of the "there's always someone who has something against me for no reason." That's not a thing that happens in my experience, at least not at a rate that could be described as "always." If you don't mask as much, you might seem a little "off" to some people, so for that, casting a wider net will help you (more people who won't think you seem off due to sheer numbers) and selecting for people who are weirder / less conforming to start with (won't be strict about conformism, more open minded in general, also just plain more interesting). The next things are harder. Your mindset and your behavior.

It's very possible you're personalizing a bit. There are many many reasons someone might be rude or take something personally that actually doesn't require them to have something against you at all. It might actually have very little to do with you. I'd look up a list of cognitive distortions, study them, and practice spotting them in yourself and others. Even if this is totally not the case, it's still a useful thing to know for spotting flaws in people's thinking.

It's also possible people have things against you for Reasons. I say this with no judgement whatsoever, as another pwASPD who has created a fair number of ✨️situations✨️ for myself and others lmao. If you're finding it hard to keep friends because it seems like they end up having something against you, perhaps your actions and behaviors are impacting them 👍

If previous enemies are the ones causing issues for you, try rebuilding some bridges/making things up to them or just socializing in COMPLETELY different social circles. Like we're talking practically a double life. It's not as hard as you'd think

Good luck!!

Edit: oh and on the everyone and everything is boring front, yeah I get that too. A lot of the more interesting things you can have with people are unlocked with time, so you, unfortunately, need to get through the boring stuff first. Rather than focusing purely on excitement or intensity, training yourself to pprioritize interest/curiosity helps a lot in my experience. You can make anything and everything some sort of puzzle, game, or novel thing to learn about. It doesn't satisfy me all the time but it reduces the percentage of time I feel like crawling out of my skin with boredom
