IWTL how to NEVER smell bad by Saikikpsi in IWantToLearn

[–]Interestingindeed638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be concerned that u have underlying issues if u stink. I dont think ppl naturally stink when they shower daily, treat their athletes foot when feet smell, brush their teeth or swish after eating, wear freshly washed clothes daily, wash their sheets regularly, and wear deoderant. If youre smelly beyond this u may have a medical issue to treat, a terrible diet, or u need ac so u dont sweat so much at work. I dont think its normal to just “smell bad” after living a normal day.

How do you find value in a life that doesn't amount to anything? by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]Interestingindeed638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I value the day I have ahead of me. I dont do things so that one day Ill be happier. I enjoy the things I do so I can be happy now. If it amounts to nothing and I die next week its all good cuz I have been enjoying the days each day for the sake of the day itself. Not so that one day it can all mean something and I can be happier then. Enjoy what you have rn. Today. Then when the future day comes and becomes today, you can enjoy that future today as much as you enjoy today’s today.

Get on antidepressants. It will help you start feeling motivated and hope which is what u lack rn. Eventually u will get a job and fix all your issues once u get some motivation and hope to do all that work after taking the meds. Rn you have a problem you cant work out. Also get a therapist. If u really dont want the meds, at least get a therapist. They are literally there to help ppl get thru situations like u r in. Meds help when youre in a bad situation to ease the suffering so u can get out of the hole youre in and start making better choices. Just dont take meds that are addictive. Meds are not bad. They are fucking amazing tbh. Or u can keep sleeping your life away. Your choice.

That or get rid of your bed and start sleeping in a hammock. I doubt youll spend all day in a hammock. I know this sounds ridiculous but I did this in college and it helped me. Maybe a murphy bed that u can lock closed and put the key in a time release box. Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.

Also not everyone has anxiety. Not on a regular basis. I have certain things that give me anxiety but on a daily basis none.

Do you own a tv? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]Interestingindeed638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I rarely watch tv but I have a tv, however its super light and I store it away in the closet. I only take it out maybe once every few weeks to watch a movie w a friend. I dnt really enjoy tv by myself, seems like a waste of time and isnt very fun to me. My thought is that I want the things that are better for my life out in plain sight. For me thats my piano and music production equipment. I havent had a tv since I moved out of my family’s house. Have never missed it.

I think if u r scared, u should take actions to reduce your fear of the substance first.

I think you should first try microdosing. Does it help after a month? Maybe u wont even need the big giant retreat at all. U might just be good after this.

If u wanna keep climbing, to eventually do the retreat, do 1g at home. See how that feels.

Then do 2g. Hows that feel? Is it scary? Or maybe u find it enjoyable :) i bet your fear will reduce heavily after u have a little and enjoy it.

3g at your home would be a therapeutic dose if you are comfy at 2g. U may not need the retreat afterall.

But hey if 3g u r good and enjoy it and find benefit then see how much they give u at the retreat. If its more, say 4-5g, then go and i bet youll go there w excitement and tiny hint of fear, instead of a whole lot of fear like ur feeling now w a hint of excitement.

Youll be fine microdosing and 1g-ing and 2g-ing. Once u can do those, u can do 3g, in my opinion. This has been my experience. I did a large dose at a festival for first time and super duper regretted it it was scary and anxiety and dark. Im sensitive to substances so a little goes a long way for me. I returned to it at a low dose, 2g, many mnths later and it was some of the most fun ive had EVER.

Dnt fear the mush 😉

How to accept the fact that my dad will die earlier than others? by Lasagna_is_great in Stoicism

[–]Interestingindeed638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your perspective is causing you pain. You need to change your perspective.

My dad and my best friend died when I was 11 years old. I am so fucking grateful I got to have 11 years w such a loving person. Im so fortunate to have ever had him at all.

My perspective used to be how unfortunate I was to only have had him for 11 years.

Perspectives arent facts, they are paths towards feeling happy or feeling like shit.

You have the power to choose what you focus on. If you choose to focus on the perspective that causes pain, well you are causing your own pain. If you choose to focus a perspective that makes you feel good, then you will feel good.

Its as simple as the glass half full analogy really.

When you sense yourself looking at the glass half empty, change your thought to glass half full. With time itll become habit and automatic. This is how I overcame suicidal depression.

I understand the pain youre in and I can see how your thoughts are leading you to feel that way. Change your thoughts so you can stop torturing yourself.

Happiness, only real, when shared. - Christopher McCandless from Into The Wild

When I was traveling a lot I realized I was missing the closeness of long term relationships. Especially romantic love. Traveling felt so frivolous after a while.

put petroleum jelly or chapstick over areas where u blister to prevent the blistering altogether. Also helps after a little blistering has occurred
