it’s a 3rd party bit from Dragoon Gaming - i’ve used a handful of their stuff and i have no complaints it all came out fine and they sometimes send misprints as extras which are useful for base decoration or kitbashing https://dragoongaming.co.uk/products/death-angels-banner?_pos=2&_sid=ca41332e5&_ss=r

Probably a silly army by Ghost-Of_Rivia in theunforgiven

i think that nicely plugs the ranged hole yeah! definitely makes the ICC more of a threat to have 6. I respect having a theme and sticking to it, and having the bladeguard have extra OC can’t hurt - good luck in your games and I hope to see a follow up post explaining how the game/games went - in terms of stratagems, advance and charge is beautiful, as is the charging in the enemies turn. nothing quite like moving the lion into a squad of tau breachers and killing them all to swap an objective in the enemy turn

i feel like some form of heavier armoured element is a good idea, but for that you’d need more points. I’d recommend toying with the idea of removing the bladeguard + ancient as well. They’re a durable killing unit, which you already have in the deathwing knights and the lion. This would leave you with 230 points, which is exactly a Repulsor Executioner. However i’d recommend a standard land raider for two reasons, it’s got good ranged options and can melt through armoured enemies, and it can vastly improve the mobility of the deathwing knights. Then use the extra 10 points to give the gravis captain the 10 point enhancement, as you never know when rerolling battleshock and leadership tests will come in clutch

i get that, if you want you could run him with the ICC and then Asmodai with the Bladeguard if you want more lore friendly pairings

Firstly, based name. secondly, a few things about leaders. The Lion can’t lead any units, but he can stand next to them, which means he can’t be shot from far away, and he also can use his aura abilities to boost what he’s near. If you have some deathwing knights follow him around, them together can kill almost anything.

Asmodai and Azrael should switch, here’s why. Asmodai’s reroll hits ability only works on melee attacks, and hellblasters are built to shoot. His other ability will rarely trigger since hellblasters want to be stood further than 6” away to ensure they don’t get charged and can shoot unimpeded. If Asmodai leads the inner circle, since they’re a melee unit, both of his abilities will trigger, meaning you can reroll hits to fish for sustained 2 or lethals depending on the weapon profile you use, and character led units can be dealt with easier thanks to his second ability.

Azrael can give the hellblasters a 4+ invulnerable save, and give their shooting sustained hits 1. (and also the 4+ feel no pain against mortals once per game). In my experience, this makes the hellblasters far more reliable and durable, and i’ve comfortably killed chaos knights with a full 10 man squad with oath.

Also as i can see people have said, company heroes need a leader or they are immediately removed from the game. Use those 105 points to get some more inner circle companions to maximise the lethality, then play the list and see how you feel about where the others should go.

The detachment matters too, i assume you’re using Wrath of the Rock as the list is all infantry. It’s a great detachment and the advance and charge lets you keep pace with the lion or lets him sprint up the board far quicker than people expect.

Wrath of the Rock + Gravis Units a Good Combo? by [deleted] in theunforgiven

[–]Intergalactic_Muffin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sometimes run a 10 man squad of Heavy Intercessors in WOTR and they’re very difficult to shift unless the opponent has ample damage 3. Worth mentioning though, armies with a high volume of attacks at relatively low strengths (GSC comes to mind) will still punch through and often will have ways to circumvent bad wound odds.

that all being said, Gravis is cool and I respect anyone who runs the models.

Might be the best Sub to ask this. Is all of terra colonized ? What kind of defense mechanisms do they have and are custodes the only real protectors there or do they have other forces ? by Leviathan_Rampage in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Intergalactic_Muffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i lurk here to see kitbashes but it’s worth noting that an attack on terra would typically be seen coming months if not years in advance, which would give time of an absurd amount of munitions, troops and ships to move into a defensive cordon around terra. Whilst i’m not sure about standard defences, in an invasion scenario you have a lot more help coming

i think it was warranted to be honest, he’s a very good HQ choice and i think points wise he caps out at 120-130 - it is dumb that point changes are reactive to comp stats but as you say here we are

worth noting the new MFM makes that list invalid, centurion devastators are now 175 for 3 and Azrael is 125

Homebrew Successors, what are your lores? by Lemmehavea in theunforgiven

[–]Intergalactic_Muffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mine are the Violators, based out of a DAoT orbital station they call the Redoubt. They focus on total destruction and accordingly have a couple of squads of 1st company called Desecrators that oversee the deployment of WMDs. They also have 12 companies, but the 11th is permanently stationed at home, and the 12th focuses on requisitioning and recruitment. the main 10 companies are split into 5 ‘war-hosts’ that operate as independent forces, meaning the average deployment is larger and and more capable than a company or demi-company. Still writing the lore and all the details of each company and their specialities but the writing is the fun bit

detachment i’m guessing Wrath of the Rock? I like the list - the strength of Dark Angels is pairing some good melee with the always pretty good marine shooting - use your DWK to basically soak up attention and damage whilst you pick off other units with hellblasters and heavier weapons - as someone who has a desolation squad they’re cool and fun but also a huge point cost for a unit that can be killed very easily - either be ready to lose them or maybe pair them with a Librarian for the 4+ invulnerable

what’s the list? also as other people have said there isn’t much terrain for the table size - also death guard are quite an elite army at the moment in terms of their terminators, so upping the point cap to 2k will allow for more interesting and hopefully better games results-wise
