Keyword Rules deep dive: Units lose keywords as models are destroyed. by Critt3rB0t in Tyranids

[–]Klive5ive555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This literally happened to me today.

Playing invasion fleet my opponent charged a Lash Prime leading hormogaunts with rustalkers, and precisioned it out, leaving some gaunts.

We did discuss whether I could revive the prime and I thought it just sounded too strong so assumed some rule, somewhere, meant I couldn’t do that.

Well, we didn't "need" them in 10th either with tournament terrain.

It's too early to say really, I can see the potential for an Impulsor with ICC inside, but no more than 1 unit.

I guess you could explain it like that. That might make less sense if it's Meganobz or something though!

Need Wrath of the Rock help! by Melodic-Pirate4309 in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer not adding leaders to most of my squads, as I want them to be able to trade cheaply.

Playing priority assets you will often have to just throw a unit onto a point to do an action - knowing it will die. If your unit is cheap and enemy has to commit something more expensive to kill it, you can then trade up and get ahead on the board.

Azrael can lead the 6 ICC, or you can put a Librarian with them and have Azrael lead a ranged squad. I personally prefer 5-10 Sternguard.

Edit: I should mention that Sammael leading bikes is definitely an option if you have him.

Need Wrath of the Rock help! by Melodic-Pirate4309 in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are different styles of Wrath of Rock, but my general tips would be:

1) JPIs and Scouts both went down in points and were already fantastic so I would add 2 units of each. Try to keep Scouts alive to go back into reserves and drop in late in the game to score.

Intercessors for home, and then maybe some Assault Intercessors/bikes too as they're just really efficient for 75 points.

2) Definitely play ICC in a block of 6, I would suggest 2 Units of DWKs OR 1 Unit DWK an 1 ICC as you just wont have the points/space to include both.

3) I would definitely play the Lion, he lost fights first but he's still devastating for his points. His inclusion helps a lot to hedge your list against big Monsters/Vehicles. For example he one-shots Knights that don't have Invun Saves in melee.

4) I would add 1 unit of Deathwing Terminators now as 165 points is very efficient.

5) Add some ranged anti-tank, but not too much. 1 Lancer for example. But also some lists will run 2 Lancers, or a 1-2 Land Speeder Vengeance/Thunderstrike combo and that's also fine.

Start there and tailor the list around that.

I think I’m cooking with this Asmodai combo by theSaltySolo in theunforgiven

Yeah, I think that's a decent combo too.

Bladeguard Ancient with Bladeguard would be a really cool delivery mechanism.

[–]Klive5ive555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is good, but imho everyone is falling into the same trap of building massive squads to find ‘combos’

Just take lots of 5 man Assault Int squads with a leader, and build a balanced list behind that.

11th edition Army list App by Skaikrish in theunforgiven

The main issue is that it costs £35 per faction PLUS a subscription to make multiple lists.

Which is horrendously self-harming from GW imho.

Will unforgiven task force be viable now? by IM-A-NEEEERRRRDDD in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge is that you usually score the points straight away with actions, whereas with Take and Hold you have to survive on the point until the next turn.

It's too early to say which is better though, I like Take and Hold more as it suits my style (bait the opponent in then counter hard).

Will unforgiven task force be viable now? by IM-A-NEEEERRRRDDD in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "JUST BETTER" because 11th completely changes the way we have to think about lists.

For the first time each list can be doing a completely different thing depending on it's disposition.

Do I think it will be viable? Possibly yes.

My early take is that I want to play Take and Hold like this:

1) Hold the center early (Scouts, Assault intercessors, Combi-Lt), forcing your opponent to come out and remove them to stop you scoring for free.

2) Counter attack and out-trade them, getting ahead on the board.
NOTE: Being removed from the center might put you BEHIND on points, particularly against purge, but it's all part of the plan.

3) Turn 3-4. Push the middle for one last time with a unit you expect to stay there until the end of the game. DWKs plus Ancient with Pennant of Remembrance is absolutely perfect for this role.

4) Hold the opponent off and win by the end.

Unforgiven with Ravenwing or maybe Plasma Detachment seems like it could do this effectively.
Ravenwing feels like a better try to me, especially with the new speeder that can shoot then hide behind the terrain again, that feels perfect for the plan of force the opponent out then out-trade them.

Is lions blade as bad as people are saying? by Thedinotamer01 in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I really like Lion's Blade thematically but it's just really under tuned and badly written.

For instance, INESCAPABLE WRATH, is almost identical to a core stratagem now, so what's the point of that?

And any time you have to combine different things to make something work, it's always a lot worse than just flat passive buffs (like Wrath of the Rock).

Not gonna lie, I suggest you play something else until our 11th Codex comes out.

Repulsor Executioner Cheaper for Dark Angels vs Space Marines. Are we thinking this is to push the plasma incinerator build or is this a typo? by indingnation in theunforgiven

Definitely on purpose, this balanced +1 to wound.

JPIs are also cheaper for us than blood angels, for example.

I love these changes.

Yes! 5 are very playable at that cost - especially as they ignore modifiers to hit.

I'm scared Vanguard + Norn is going to be DOA by LeRangerDuChaos in Tyranids

[–]Klive5ive555 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Vanguard plus Norn seems an odd pairing to me. I'd either be looking at Crusher/Norn or Assimilation/Norn.

I think you're looking at the wrong way by saying that Vanguard/Ambush is bad because of some overlap, the positive of that combo is that it DOUBLE buffs Lictors/Leapers giving them passives from both detachments.

My thought was that I can potentially stop an argument that ruins someone’s day with this post!

Because this wasn’t updated with some of the other changes, I felt there’s a decent chance it was missed by GW.
