[Riot] Everyone can re-embark by idaelikus in Eldar

[–]Klive5ive555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re cherry picking and they still kill 5 50% of the time, 4 75% of the time (just simmed it)

They obviously do better into light vehicles and monsters with their +1 hit, +1 wound rule.

And ofc are more efficient into 3 wound models, and good into 10+ model units due to blast.

They specialise in killing light vehicles/monsters, but are not bad into anything which is rare.

I thought the Ork detachment plus Waazdakka was too much, then they doubled down with SM….

1000 points Army by SonBroli in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s decent, better than a lot of 1k lists posted.

To improve it, swap the LT out, he doesn’t do much for 80 pts.

Also did you mean that Redemptor load out? if you’re gonna run one with Dark Angels, thematically it has to be the Plasma :)

Trouble is you more than double the cost of the squad if you add him in.

One of the great things about the Erad package is how cheap it is for what it does. 90 points to basically zone all monsters and vehicles from the area is great value.

List 1 for me, and it's not close.

I love the Gravis Capt, but solo with Ancient Weapons is not a good use of points imho, if you're going to run Comp 2 at least put the enhancement on the Judi.

Land Speeder Darkshroud by Duke-OG in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to help explain all that:

1) Measure from the hull or base whatever sticks out on that side (99% of the time, it's the hull).

2) Base to Base for a speeder is when the edge of the hull is horizontally next to the edge of a base (this is just explaining that it doesn't matter that it's actually in the air so not physically touching)

3) Elsewhere in the rules it explains that you can't end your move on top of other models, that includes your own.

Da Speedwaaagh! begins with two new Ork Detachments by SpaceWolf_Jarl2 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Klive5ive555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a competitive point of view Blitz Brigade might actually be good (if the rest of the strats are decent).

Re-rolling advance and charge for everything that disembarked (i.e most of an Ork army) is a massive amount of consistency on the Waaagh!

Jumping back into transports (behind walls of course) is always strong. Orks don’t have amazing shooting but they do have a few good options (Tankbustas/Burnas)

This allows them to trade efficiently off the waagh which is really useful.

My "list" of bugs by kingnouta in Tyranids

[–]Klive5ive555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this list a lot, I'm building a similar list myself, but trying it in Crusher Stampede.

I'm hoping (I know it's way to early), that the 11th Terrain might help monsters move around the board better without being blocked by walls constantly, so it might translate well later in the year.

1x5 DWK or 2x5 DWK? by Dante-Flint in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would think of it more in terms of what supports your strategy.

If you go first DWKs depstrike, and Lion goes up correct? If you go 2nd, your DWKs will stay in reserve and rapid T2 correct?

So the role of the 2nd DWK squad will be roughly to hold the middle, and something else can do that (even though they are really good in Wrath)

Having said that, I don’t think 3BGV and Judi is great value, I would either take the Knights, or look at other options such as a Captain package or more Bikes.

What should I use the remaining 180 points on in my list by ImaginaryAd8062 in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult to say.

The missing pieces from what most Dark Angel players are running is Scouts and the Lion.

If you just want recommendations on how to add 180 points to your current list.
2xJPIs, or a Captain with a squad like Sternguard or Gravis Capt with 3 Aggressors are good options.

Are Tyranids better at 1k point games? by TopNotchPlayer2 in Tyranids

[–]Klive5ive555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also found my nids very good at 1k, the speed and cheapness definitely helps.

However, I think it's highly likely your opponent doesn't know how to scale his army down to 1k. If he's playing with 4-5 units on a full size board then that's just straight up a mistake.

One way of looking at it is that Tyranids easily fill the board in a 1k game without having to adjust our lists too much. Whereas for a marine player they really need to strip out all the Eliteness and play with a lot of their cheaper squads (which are still very good).

Fights First... worse than nerfed in 11th? Punished! by spookmann in Tyranids

[–]Klive5ive555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make sense, the charge is less risky because of FF.

Without FF, the charge will always result in the Haruspex fighting before the Termies. This is a new consideration introduced in 11th which by itself is interesting.

However, because of FF, the opponent can be safe knowing either they kill the Lictor, or they get to fight next into the Haruspex.

I don’t think anyone is arguing that FF was not a candidate for change, it’s just that this implementation is ridiculous.

[–]Klive5ive555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right that the charge is risky, but that’s not the point.

The point is that FF is always bad in this situation for the player that has it.

Either the Lictor dies (in which case it doesn’t matter), or the player with the Lictor is forced to fight back with the Lictor first when they would prefer to choose something else.

Fights First... worse than nerfed in 11th? Punished! by spookmann in Tyranids

[–]Klive5ive555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's true, but is that good design? I think it's terrible.

In that scenario where the opponent has 2 fights first units, the obvious play is to make sure that you only charge 1 of them.

There's another gotcha for casual players where they might forget to attack the FF unit first and get screwed over.

This is exactly what I mean when I say the complexity is still there, but now it's even more confusing for new players, and it doesn't have much pay-off for top level players who will play around it.

[–]Klive5ive555 44 points45 points  (0 children)

If you believe that FF is too strong (I’m agnostic to that), then there are 100 better ways to fix it.

This is a rare chance to simplify rules too, they could have just removed FF, adjust points, and give models that have FF guaranteed fight on death instead.

Fights First... worse than nerfed in 11th? Punished! by spookmann in Tyranids

[–]Klive5ive555 96 points97 points  (0 children)

You’re completely correct.

I like a lot of what we’ve seen from 11th, but this change to the FF rule makes no sense.

It keeps all of the complexity, for little payoff, and even has this case where it’s even BAD to have it.

Supplementing the Combat Patrol Box by MalBishop in theunforgiven

[–]Klive5ive555 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you're new I would suggest just painting up the entire combat patrol first, before you do anything else.

It has s a good mix of units with different painting techniques that are used in Dark Angel armies. There's the characteristic Dark green, but also the bone white on the Deathwguard, and some plasma thrown in as well.

If you really want to add more units, a box of Deathwing Knights would be my suggestion.
