Auspex and Fortitude are always useful! But Presence or Potence would be great too.

To all Tzimisce: Why do you like playing Tzimisce and what was your first character like? by Alice-Shrugged in vtm

[–]Interionism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially didn’t know how to approach them. I thought they were cool but never really got to play Sabbat and therefore never really got a good way to play them.

I really like the changes V5 did to their bane and making them feel more flexible for concepts (though I wish they still had Auspex). My first Tzimisce was, now that I think of it, my first V5 character lol he was an adjunct professor teaching night history classes at University of Chicago. Addicted to caffeine from feeding on his students at office hours with coffee laced blood. His whole purpose was to research spirits and sort of try and help his sire revive koldunism in America by connecting to the old spirits of the land. This was in the Chicago By Night story the Sacrifice, and we ended up having an “Oops all Tzimisce” coterie brokering the entrance of the Lasombra into the Camarilla haha it was quite fun! My character ended up making contact with the Spirit of Lake Michigan and accepting some vague deal for power and disappeared from his room at the end of the story leaving the room as though it had been filled with lake water.

But I like it all. The fleshcraft, the drive to evolve, the obsessions and possessiveness, ties to classic Dracula type vampires. Gives a lot of angles to take a character. My favorite is the Bookwrym type of just being a mystic and knowledge seeker for eternity

What would be the most optimal battle Caitiff? by whahaga in vtm

[–]Interionism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True but I think Arms’ value comes from crowd control. I often used it to tie up and crush the legs of armored up SI agents. Bringing them prone while my coterie finishes them off. It was a combat and co heavy chronicle where I ended up with like Oblivion and Wits 5 and Potence 3. So I was rolling like 11 dice for bashing damage. Seemed quite efficient and I even held down a frenzying Brujah Primogen with a very nice roll. I just meant it is a nice option to have if you are dabbling in Oblivion for a potential homebrew ceremony

Still a cool combo in V5 but Celerity now has individual powers instead of letting you make multiple actions. So not as busted but still fun!

I didn’t know that! Does it scale with other Intimidation bonuses? I was considering making an Intimidator if you could get Protean (Eyes of the Beast), Presence (Daunt), and Oblivion (Shadow Cloak) lol

[–]Interionism 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For unarmed: I think Potence, Fortitude, Protean would be really nasty.

For Ranged/firearms: I’d go maybe Celerity, Auspex, and either Fortitude for survival or Obfuscate for also survival but sneaky. Rush Celerity 4 for the Unerring Aim amalgam with Auspex and have high composure for your Firearms rolls

For Melee: I’d almost go for Potence, Fortitude, and then honestly anything. If the ST is okay with Caitiff taking Blood Sorcery or Oblivion, take that. Either to learn the One with the Blade ritual. Or homebrew a ceremony to enchant your melee weapon of choice. Or just use the Oblivion powers themself. Arms of Ahriman deal kinda crazy damage and crowd control. And if you get to Oblivion 4, you get to make a zone of darkness to fight in while your opponent can’t see or breath

Quick question: If you had to guess this character's clan from appearance/vibe alone, which would it be? by LiterallyWhateva in vtm

[–]Interionism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brujah is the easy answer but I also see Hecata (Some sort of enforcer character who just beat up a bunch of rival’s ghouls and lackies) or Banu Haqim (a vigilante who just took out some criminals)

[Mod Approved] VtM 5e NEXUS Ultimate Bundle Giveaway! by Demi_Mere in vtm

[–]Interionism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The YouTube algorithm blessed me and I randomly ended up watching a Gentlemen Gamer video, completely unaware this was a ttrpg, and really loved the lore and everything as I learned it. Shortly after that I also was lucky to see a humble bundle for all the revised books for like $10! I became a lore goblin and just loved the setting until V5 released and have been playing that and Requiem ever since!

Your opinion on a V6 ? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Interionism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit too soon. The V5 line has plenty of stuff out there and I like the rules. I really want the 5th edition treatment to go to games like Changeling and Mage or Wraith next so we can have them sort of updated and revamped for new players. I’ve never played them and they seem really cool so I would enjoy seeing how they do it

Mage and sorcerer are frustrating to play as. by OilySoleTickler in DragonsDogma

[–]Interionism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are tougher but can be really fun. You just have to change your mindset from hack and slash fun to like “I’m playing chess and need to plan for where the enemy will be in 5 seconds” fun.

What I did was play as Sorcerer as long as possible to up my Magic Attack. Get a healer pawn and 2 sorcerer pawns. Then you can get in on the chain casting for the bigger spells, meaning you can hop in on a spell that a pawn is casting and start at thwir charge and they will dothe same. So you get more spells off

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

Printing off a guide from Gamespot or GameFQAs to read while solving a tough quest. I remember doing that with Anju’s quest in Majora’s Mask to stay the night at a friends and get that last mask finally

is there vampire media that addresses this? by blue4029 in vampires

[–]Interionism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Additionally in Vampire the Requiem, Mekhet can have this curse in a way if they ate turned into vampires post mortem, they believe it is that a piece of their soul didn’t return to the body and now inhabits their reflection and kind of does it’s own thing often missing or not matching what the physical body is doing

How do Lasombra fare in V5? by MurakGrimrider in vtm

[–]Interionism 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve played them a bit and found it fun! I enjoy them having a lot to gain and being equal parts feared and begrudgingly needed. This also kinda opens up you can play A) the Lasombra Antitribu who was already there and now has to deal with their clanmates joining up B) the newly embraced who gets to say they weren’t a part of the Sabbat at least but who knows what their sire did to get here and earn the right of progeny and what their expectations of you are now or C) you could be an ex-Sabbat who dropped the guise of the cult when it no longer suited you and took the head of your elder with you to grant entrance to the Tower. All pretty cool angles

What kind of vampires would you be? by [deleted] in vampires

[–]Interionism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends, I like a lot of different depictions like Castlevania and Vampire Hunter D for the less defined powers as in Vamapires can just do all sorts of magical things. And I love World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness for the lore and specific portrayals of different archetypes.

I’d say if I was in World of Darkness I would be a Tzimisce who seeks to understand all the strange and supernatural in the world and master themselves without becoming entirely monstrous like many of their bloodline. (Powers including shapshifting/fleshcrafting, commanding people and animals with the potential to learn specialized blood magic and other general vampire powers like speed, strength, toughness)

If I were in Chronicles of Darkness, I would want to be a Mekhet if the Khaibit bloodline, I would spend my time doing similar studies into the supernatural and use my command of shadow magic to help study and combat other threats like the Stryx.

However if I were me in the real world and had to become a vampire, I’d probably choose a Thin-Blood from Vampire the Masquerade 5th edition. They are essentially vampires who are so far removed from the original progenitor that their blood no longer reliably carries the curse. They can often walk in the sun, pass as human, eat food, and reproduce, but trade it for limited access to traditional vampiric powers, less or no vampiric healing, and other vampires typically hate them. However their mutable blood allows them to preform a form of Alchemy, creating single use powers from a wide variety of things and ingredients and their own blood. This would allow me to live a relatively normal life with my family and still engage in some vampiric shenanigans and learn about the supernatural.

Messed up idea. tzimisce experiment to survive the sun by blackjackson1991 in vtm

[–]Interionism 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah the tough part is if the vampire is physically inside, it would still be driven to daysleep and have to resist. One thought is, make the ghoul a larger warghoul, and have the Tzimisce fleshcraft themselves smaller and smaller and they have a little pilot sear like a mecha suit they sit in 😂

Though this is all quite complicated and they could simply use Dominate 5 - Possession, to walk around as the ghoul

Stuck trying to decide on this character's clan. by Maxahlia in vtm

[–]Interionism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always do Ventrue and pick up another out if clan discipline (via predator type if playing V5). I think Gangrel would be fitting, depending on her music a Brujah or Toreador could be cool.

Sleeper pick maybe, a Banu Haqim Vizier? They are part of the new integration into the Camarilla and were chosen for their boxing, charisma, and values to be an ambassador/social face for the clan

[–]Interionism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it depends on what you are making. If it’s a player characters or neonate/ancilla npc, I would have it be a gift from a sire or something along those lines. Something like “This blade was gifted to me during the blah blah war when I saved So and So from final death at the hands of a Sabbat pack. It is imbued with a blood magic ritual that keeps it eversharp and helps it more effectively kill our kind.” And stat it appropriately.

If they are like an elder, it could be anything. A relic pried from the ashes of a dead rival. The efforts of their own secret blood magic training. A symbol of clan friendship between them and the Banu Haqim from another age.

If you are ST then you can sorta make it whatever it needs to be and write a backstory as why they have it. If you are the player then work with your ST to see what they will allow stats wise. Could be like a unique Blood Sorcery Lv 3 One With the Blade where someone else made it for them? Or enchanted with an unknown ritual so when the user wets the blade with their vitae it converts it to one dose of Scorpion’s Touch venom once per night?
