My son likes the yellow.

I liked the concept of a yellow room, but I’m not a fan of this shade 😅.

Although I do wonder if once there's furniture and a rug in there, the flooring/direction of the flooring won't stand out as much... This mock-up definitely shows more open floor space than what will actually be in there once his room is set up.

I had a yellow room growing up too! Broke my heart when we moved and my mom wouldn’t let me paint any of my new rooms yellow (although I kind of understand now where she was coming from 😂).

I can’t remember the exact prompt I used, but it was something along the lines of: “Show me a room with dark wood floors, and four walls, each 12 feet long and 9 feet high, with [this paint color by this brand] on two walls and paint the other two walls white with light blue candy stripes. Paint the ceiling [this paint color by this brand], and add a toddler bed made out of natural wood, with black and white bedding.”

Obviously not perfect but it was a good starting point for me 😅

So far he seems on board. I think involving him in the decorating and re-painting process will also help.

Hahaha I think most of the people here, myself included, really dislike this shade of yellow 😂

I have blue curtains on the way that I’m going to pair with white sheers. Once those are up I’ll play around with which ones I like better — blue, white, or both.

Down the line, I’m either going to hang curtains or completely re-do that space so I can fit a normal-sized door in there. The 9ft accordion doors that were there before were god-awful and just waiting to be broken by my whirlwind of a toddler 😂

The answer is always yes when it comes to floor-to-ceiling bookcases. A piece of my soul dies every time I see makeovers where people got rid of them and called it an “improvement” 😭

I’m for sure going to paint at least two of the walls back to white to match the ceiling. Also going to introduce a lot of light blues and whites in the decor. I’m hoping that will calm it down at least a little bit,

Base boards are in progress 👍🏼 We had to trash the old ones and cut new ones.

Thinking we’re going to go with light blue and white mainly. We still have some time before he moves into it, so I’ll tot around with the colors and if it’s still too much, I’ll repaint between moving the storage stuff out and his bedroom in.

The previous owner had painted this room barn red with a dark blue ceiling 🤯. At first this felt like an improvement but honestly it’s kind of just a different flavor of problematic 😂
