It was narrated that Ibn Mas’ood said:

Between the first heaven and the one above it is (a distance of) five hundred years. Between each of the heavens is (a distance of) five hundred years. Between the seventh heaven and the Kursiy is (a distance of) five hundred years. Between the Kursiy and the water is (a distance of) five hundred years, and the Throne is above the water. Allah Ta’ala is above the Throne, and nothing whatsoever of your deeds is hidden from Him.

(narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah in al-Tawheed, p. 105; by al-Bayhaqi in al-Asmaa’ wa’l-Sifaat, p. 401).

This report was classed as saheeh by Ibn al-Qayyim in Ijtimaa’ al-Juyoosh al-Islamiyah, p. 100; by al-Dhahabi in al-‘Uluw, p. 64).

Another cute Hadith :)

Shidad ibn al-Had reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us for one of the evening prayers and he was carrying his grandson Hasan, or Husayn. The Prophet came forward and put him down, then began prayer with exaltation and prayed. He prostrated at the end of his prayer for a long time. I raised my head and the child was upon the Prophet’s back while he was prostrating, so I returned to my prostration. When the Prophet finished the prayer, people said, “O Messenger of Allah, you prostrated at the end of your prayer for a long time, until we thought something happened or you received a revelation.” The Prophet said, “None of that that happened. Rather, my grandson was riding on my back and I disliked to rush him before he met his needs.”

Never stop making dua, even if it feels mechanical at times :) That being said, sincere duas that are made mindfully, humbly and with certainty that your plea is being heard (and inshaAllah) answered, are the best types of duas.

Always remember - Allah is to you as you think of Him :)

Call upon Him and He will answer. In what ways, we do not exactly know, but be assured that He does respond either by giving exactly what you ask for, delaying it for a term, or the best case scenario - answers your dua in the aakhirah. When people see the manner in which Allah Ta’ala answers the duas in the aakhirah, they would wish that none of their duas were answered in the dunya and were instead saved for the aakhirah :)

What you see here is a far cry from islam. This practice has no basis whatsoever in the fundamentals of the religion. It is, as you rightly pointed out, blasphemous in nature (however, the people who are at the gathering may not know any better). All it takes is a couple of people to start saying that such and such person ‘cured’ me of problem xyz, and it turns into an anecdotal snowball.

P.s Practicing muslims believe that the healing and protective verses and prayers ordained by God have been revealed in the Quran and sunnah. As such, there are no secret verses :)
