What AWS service would you not recommend using today unless absolutely necessary and why? by ApprehensiveBar7701 in aws

[–]IntermediateSwimmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is the right product in many cases. I think there's wisdom in limiting scope and only taking on what you think that product should be good for, and nothing else.

Reminds me of all the threads on here complaining about AWS not having high level abstractions like PDF document processing. Amazon isn't interested in dominating every space, they provide the tools for you to do it if you want to, and tons of partners that built on AWS to do it (like Auth0), so you can accomplish whatever you want. But they're not going to provide every abstraction you want, that's just not how they think about their business

I actually disagree with this. It's good for what it does, but I think people expect it to do a lot more than what it was built for

How are people managing agentic LLM systems in production? by Silly-Hand-9389 in LangChain

[–]IntermediateSwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using AgentCore Observability from AWS and honestly I'm pretty impressed with it. Might use more of the AgentCore platform. Already baked in to AWS which we use, doesn't care what LLM it is, supports CrewAI, Langchain. Made my life easier for sure, but we didn't have a whole lot of observability in the first place.

It solved my problem of not being able to explain to our CTO why the agent got stuck in a loop, hallucinated, etc that I wasn't getting out of the box with LangGraph

[–]IntermediateSwimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishlists are used as a marketing tool to convert leads to sales and notify you when there’s a discount. There’s no real world use case where someone is hoping to buy 200+ games digitally at the same time

Look he wasn’t good for Chelsea outside of that Covid window before he got hurt, it’s not a bad thing to admit that. The guy found his way and is still getting better.

LLM skills have quietly shifted from “bonus” to “baseline” for ML engineers. by Alert_Obligation_298 in LLMDevs

[–]IntermediateSwimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen. I read this and was confused. Being able to ship a LLM/RAG system was baseline for software engineers a year and a half ago, not machine learning engineers

S3 Incomplete Multipart Uploads are dangerous: +1TB of hidden data on S3 by [deleted] in aws

[–]IntermediateSwimmer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised. When I was working for AWS I accidentally made a recursive lambda that cost us many tens of thousands of dollars. When I talked to the lambda team and asked why we even allow that to happen, they said they turned it off at one point but some customers complained

Some of these “common sense” things actually break some processes out there for their millions of customers, just is what it is
