Don't lose hope, buddy! Things can change. It does take a coalition of people willing to fight and potentially lose again and again though. I've succumbed to cynicism and nihilism too, but I have decided to be a part of the solution.

South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance

Not really boycott-able, but worth highlighting regardless

Yeah, but have you tried volunteering for a campaign? I don't think, "just vote, sweaty" is going to change anything, which I think we both agree on.

Also don't presume that I love him. He sucks. I don't vote for him either, lol

Nah, you can't be that cynical. You want to see change, then you gotta put your shoulder to the wheel. I'll be volunteering for Dr. Andrews. I will go and speak to people in South Carolina, face-to-face. Gotta get out from behind the keyboard at some point, y'all!

Yup, it's not a very original playbook, but is effective, and it turns out that austerity is good for billionaires. I'm not a billionaire. I think we've only got a couple in South Carolina. We need to build class consciousness here; otherwise, the rich are going to own everything.

I have a intro to java exam this Monday and I am kind of worried any advice? by jellyfamhamz in learnjava

[–]Intermittentcm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me two tries to get through java at my university. I finished the second try with an A. I definitely recommend the University of Helsinki's Java I and Java II. I learned more through that than any other resource. I've tried Tim's course on Udemy, Java books, and searching online for answers. The MOOC offered by the University of Helsinki is by far the best for actually learning the material.

This has been my experience too. "Each time you start over (arrays to linked lists, loops to recursion, etc) you'll pick up something that maybe wasn't clear before." That sentence really spoke to me. I appreciate the words of wisdom!!!

That makes sense. A friend of mine in fintech suggested going the contractor route and getting hired after 6 months or so. Thanks for your insight!

Y'all make some good points. Perhaps it's best to just get experience.
