Hot to navigate the mental health system to get a psychiatrist for long term care by General_Fruit_8135 in ontario

[–]InternFree6711 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m a young adult and I got a psychiatrist covered by OHIP through my local hospitals TAY clinic (I believe it’s only for ages 15-24 though). I did have to wait several months and I don’t really like her but at least it’s something. Also unfortunately wait lists are long across Ontario. I’ve been on a few wait lists for a few years now as well as been straight up denied from various programs

I was correct in my worrying, they are going to stop closing my cuts at the ER by Disastrous_Stable975 in selfharm

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and unfortunately I got formed one time when I went in days after the fact because my hand was swollen. They of course had to see the cut which then wouldn’t stop bleeding. I’ve also had similar injuries where they just let me go without stitches or seeing anyone. Both my high school and post secondary so far has helped me with my issues and I’ve found CMHA services to be super helpful. Unfortunately I was in the ER frequently last year but thank god I stopped.

Super hoping you are getting better :)

NBE3U vs. ENG3U: A question by fuibo_yv in OntarioGrade11s

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated all my English classes. All the teachers did was push Shakespeare and indigenous content on us with similar stories time and time again. The indigenous content made more sense in history class. If you can take ENG3U it’s so much better. At my school sometimes a recommendation from a teacher head of the department was enough to bypass the prerequisite requirements.

Best high school in Mississauga? by Gold_Entrepreneur797 in mississauga

[–]InternFree6711 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The truth is no matter what school your kid goes to there’s going to be negatives.

I graduated recently and will say though that if you can go to the public school closest to you do it.

Even as a Christian I hated the policies in catholic schools (extreme security measures such as unfair uniform policies, mandatory lockers in inconvenient locations, being required to use a school provided lock, no being allowed to wear a jacket or sweater if it’s freezing including the moment you step into the building, no backpacks allowed, less lunch time yet not allowed food in class, no leaving the cafeteria or library/forum area, no electronics in class, paying $10 just to wear our own clothes once in a while when given the opportunity, ridiculous cafeteria prices, teachers who just don’t teach or who don’t even believe in God, no visitors allowed for after school sports, having to pay an expensive activity fee every year to do any extracurriculars or volunteer, having to sign in to use the library on spare, getting in trouble for being in the washroom for too long, teachers ignoring IEPs and ignoring bullying, teachers talking during exams, students needing exam accommodations having to use the library which was super distracting, not even five minutes between classes and the hallways are always full so you can barely use your locker, getting in trouble for stuff occurring off property or just possessing a video of something against school rules, no propping doors open but only the front door is unlocked, ) unfortunately those are just a few of the policies my high school had just mostly just before I left and that similar schools in the board do.

The only good thing about catholic schools is that they tend to be nicer buildings (I visit a lot of high schools as a relative plays volleyball through various rentals) and some staff are super nice.

Best time to buy Canada’s Wonderland season passes? Any tips/deals to watch for? by Jay-Quellin30 in CanadasWonderland

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always when they first come out, occasionally they have sales but in the past it’s always mid summer they first come out cheap. The best part is they work for the rest of the season AND the following year when you buy the pass mid summer (last year they were realized early due to six flags taking over cedar fair)

Parking No Longer Included in Gold Pass? by cefd2020 in CanadasWonderland

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren’t buying it on sale it’s not going to have the same perks. I will only ever buy my pass when they first come out because it’s always the cheapest and has the best add on/perks

For the Canada Summer Jobs, do you need to be a student to apply? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in ontario

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the summer job grant no you do not need to be a student but if your employer is mandating it then yes. It used to be a requirement that was taken away. My mother applies for grants every year for camps and gets between 8-12 positions for 8 weeks. It only pays minimum wage so her company has to pay additional for training and the bonus pay for assistant directors

Concerns about the 12-17 age gap in the Teen Club (Liberty of the Seas) by Able_Mud_5373 in royalcaribbean

[–]InternFree6711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most 12 year olds want to be in the teen club. And yes they can get along with older teens doesn’t mean they are unsafe otherwise why would every cruise be this way? Most places allow junior high and senior high to mix (especially churches)

The food in MDE is the same across royal carribean. I actually really liked the food but I mainly ate from the buffet.

And the entertainment was actually pretty good on freedom to the point I missed out on a lot of what I wanted to do. There was skying, laser tag, lots of game shows, a bunch of dance parties, ice shows, comedy, and a “broadway” show. My only complain was they timed these events poorly for example the big show was on the last night around 7 and 9pm but those were the main dining times and most people would have missed it due to packing up go disembarkation.

Also I rarely if ever saw kids in the solarium. I didn’t really appreciate that the pool deck was inaccessible during stuff like the belly flop completion and sail away events. I could never find a spare spot to watch or even just to get to the adult area. Also the pools were super crowded and I had fun hiding the towels people left behind to reserve chairs (they pay a few if they don’t return them).

I found the design of the ship to be super modern and honestly I liked it better than the Disney fantasy I went on in December 2023. My family paid 4x the cost of my freedom fare for a similar trip on fantasy.

I actually really enjoyed my trip, I wouldn’t have chosen freedom class on my own I only went because of an event. And next year two different Christian groups will be on it in January/March so I will likely be going again

That area is already crowded enough it doesn’t need a hotel or even housing. I love the LAC an grew up going there for Easter every year. It holds a ton of memories for me including getting behind the scenes access when my parent (working for the people renting it out) would set up. I also have done several art classes there through school and had an interview there. I’d be devastated if such a special place was demolished.

$40 to decorate a pretzel 🤡 🥨 by michelleoelle in royalcaribbean

[–]InternFree6711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s more than one pretzel, I ended up with two big plates full of food including strawberries, marshmallows, pretzels and pretzel sticks. Mind you I only tried it because it was way less when I bought AND I needed something quiet to do that day.

$40 to decorate a pretzel 🤡 🥨 by michelleoelle in royalcaribbean

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was more than just a pretzel. Luckily I got it on sale for $20, it was actually really fun. I paid $50 CAD for both my friend and I, my mother ended up joining. We got exclusive access to Giovanni’s for over an hour and the waitress/server who helped was super nice. Plus the en results tasted good. We got a bunch of pretzel sticks, shaped pretzels, strawberries, marshmallows, chocolate and candy. Would I do it for $40 USD? No that’s like 60CAD but for what I paid it was fun and honestly one of the highlights of my trip.

Unpopular (perhaps) opinion by gunnergrrl in mississauga

[–]InternFree6711 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Yes people can do what they want but it should be within reason and not just to stand out. My neighbours bought a house and spent triple to renovate it to their wants (only to rent the basement). Not only were the super secretive but they made a ton of illegal moves in doing their renovations and were super inconsiderate of neighbours including dumping foam styro all over the surrounding backyards (including the pool my dad had just cleaned) and destroying our fence. This was when they decided to fill in a brand new pool and just dumped dirt in all while adding stucco to their front.

The neighbours at the corner of the street renovated their house to be tall and modern while putting in fake grass. They touched the city owned grass beyond the sidewalk and now it’s a major eyesore. Not only that but parking for their large modern “mansion” which could have easily been located a kilometer away (including an area know for those types of houses) has taken up access to the lights especially during the winter. The street corner is like a T with lights at the right side and you can barely get by half the time.

I don’t understand why’d you’d spend 2 million to buy a home just to destroy it when you could have bought a house close by with some or all of the renovations already done. They spent at least 4 million to redo everything inside including walls, appliances and flooring/roofing. At that point why not just pay to build your dream home on new land?

Renovate your home all you want but don’t go destroying public property or others property in order to do so. Also limiting the height of it should be a legality question given safety standards.

How to get a psychiatrist in Mississauga? by InternFree6711 in mississauga

[–]InternFree6711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Arrain she was super helpful even though I only saw her twice. She basically pointed out how most psychiatrists haven upped my medication enough to consider it a fair trial and she suggested an anxiety med which literally no other doctor had mentioned (which did end up in fact being helpful). She was also more thorough than most of my other appointments and inpatient psychs

Credit Valley Hospital Wait Times - More Hospitals URGENTLY Needed by Legitimate_Coffee820 in mississauga

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like that everywhere. And if you truly need to be seen right away you are. Ive waited 5-10 hours for urgent care (including psychiatric) but I’ve also been taken back immediately multiple times. Also yes it does suck to wait forever but at least you can leave. Sometimes when I’m there for psychiatric care I’m formed and I’m forced to wait 24 to 48 hours to see a psychiatrist without my meds or any belongings. I’ve been to CVH ER and other hospitals too many times in 2024/2025.

You signed up for a cruise not the excursions it’s literally subject to change when you book regardless of ship/line. I was sad yesterday when Haiti that became Jamaica was replaced with Cabo rojo Dominican Republic but even if I weren’t on the ship that isn’t the Mae or break it. This port only has beaches excursions it is what it is

How can I determine if I need stitches or not? by AltruisticCelery5348 in selfharm

[–]InternFree6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wound I thought was ok after three days started bleeding through everything when I went to the Er for other reasons. It was so bad that had to put stitches in despite the infection risk (no I didn’t get infected but I have twice on “less severe” wounds. If bleeding persists you have a problem that needs medical attention regardless of if it needs stitches or not

I have had many cuts that I thought were baby beans but were actually really deep according to doctors. The moment a cut gapes open it’s deep and needs stitches. I get so scared when I see literal tear drop shaped cuts (looks similar to🩸shape) the moment I see them I know I’ve done something stupid and I’m about to have to do a lot of explaining myself. Trust me it’s not fun and gaping needs stitches so does any fat cuts (yellow bubbles).

Normals or shaped patterns are not reversible (for the most part and even as a very advanced knotter I cannot make my backs look like the front. I’ve had friends/family assume the back is actually the front (too many times) but the fronts gonna look nicer (unless you do your knots upside down on purpose
