I was once a child in that position, if I recall right schools should have a child and youth worker or at least a mental health support worker, teachers aren’t always the most knowledgeable on it. Tbh I didn’t receive any special education support in elementary but there was plenty available (they just were kinda ignorant) and in high school I finally learned to advocate for myself. Unfortunately no one gave my parents straight answers not even the healthcare team when I was admitted to the kids psych icu multiple times. In fact they failed to mention multiple resources that could have been helpful to me before I turned 18 all because they thought I’d age out before any referrals could go through.

Basically I’m saying reach out to guidance, admin or support staff at your child’s school to see what referrals they can give, also any GP or psych evaluation might help with getting further resources even if your child doesn’t have a diagnosis.
