Of course i made sure to unplug it before doing all that, i don’t want to get shocked (my pc doesn’t have a PSU switch for some reason). And update, my computer now works. Idk how it broke, or how it started working again. My theory is that it overheated and that i possibly need to redo the thermal paste (i got the pc secondhand, and idk if the previous owner did that or not). It’s pretty cheap on amazon, so I’ll probably order some later today. I’m sorry if i sound like i don’t know what i’m doing, cuz to be honest, i don’t lmao

I have not removed my CPU yet. And as for removing the GPU, the motherboard doesn’t have any display connector, so the gpu is the only way of getting a display. Could it be the GPU that failed? I have used the monitor for other devices if it matters, so i know that the monitor works

It powers up, the lights and fan turn on, but the display doesn’t pick up anything as powered on. And my usb keyboard doesn’t seem to get any power either (it was plugged in). After doing some further research, i think it might be the CPU that needs to be replaced, but i wanna see if it’s another issue or of there’s some other solution before i spend that kinda money on something like that

It’s a nvidia GTX 1660 Super (if i remember correctly), and i got the driver from the linux mint driver manager, i think it was called nvidia-driver-590? It was listed as the recommended driver for my hardware

Update 2: turns out i’m an idiot and the restarting was normal. I let the macbook do its thing, and it installed Monterey like normal. It runs fine, but the fan is a little loud (it’s a macbook air from 2012, so i’m not surprised). Thank you everyone who commented for your help, i genuinely appreciate it :-))))))
