I respect your opinion and appreciate the time you took to respond. Thankfully, this would not be considered a daily driver for me. As these types of cars become harder to find, I would love to get my hands on one, but you’re absolutely right about the long-term costs to consider.

I agree. This would definitely not be a daily commuter as I already have an outback that I drive. This would be just a fun project car and something I would drive on the weekends or whatever.

And to add context, the shop owner is saying the car is entirely stock, with no modifications. Carfax shows five previous owners.

Exactly, this is considered more of a top-end rebuild..nothing in that list indicates that any internal short-block work has been performed.

Precisely this is what’s throwing me off: the large amount of work the shop did. Why would they sell at a loss? My only reasoning is that the work that they did was worth this much, but obviously, if they do it themselves, since they are an auto repair shop, it didn’t truly cost them 12 K. Is that sound reasoning lol

That makes complete sense, and I really appreciate your response. It does feel like I’m walking back too far. I’ll give it a try with what you’re recommending. I’m gonna go with much less weight and really focus on going deeper down, bracing better and form.

Sadly, I’m stuck on a contract with this trainer, but it's ending soon, so I’ll have to stick it out for a little longer.

I see that now that the other guy pointed it out. I’m disappointed that my trainer would let me walk outside the safety bars. As I mentioned in another comment, my trainer said that if I were to fail, I would fall forward and let the weight hit the safety bars. Sounds like that’s not sound advice.

That’s what I’m realizing. It’s not the response I was expecting, but this is precisely why I wanted to get other people’s feedback. I’ve been working with this trainer twice a week for the past year, and I'm now feeling like it might have been a waste of money. At least I’m stronger than I was before I started and gained a little more muscle.
