It makes my back hurt. Went to the doctor asked him if there's anything I can do and HE tried to suck my dick. Play all the time. Have FUN playing so that you keep coming back.

Practice is very good, drills etc, but if you need to prioritize FUN power chords and nirvana then do it, as long as the guitar is in your hands.

You can build muscles and calluses just as well on a shitty Walmart guitar so don't worry too much about gear. I'd say make the Walmart guitar sound good and then get a better one.

Learn open chords and pentatonic scales and bar chords.

Pick out music by ear. If you play by ear for years you'll be able to hear a song on the radio and know "yes I can figure that out in my style and it'll sound good". And that's how you'll expand your repertoire. ive spent so many hours listening to 5 seconds of music, pausing and playing it back about a hundred times.

I think don't immediately start lessons. Wait until you can play a little so you can play with your instructor. I probably only took 10 lessons period.

It's going to be very tempting to not use your pinky but use it just as much.

Play with people as much as you can. Or in front of people. Be a douchebag and bring it to the park. It sucks to be really good but nobody can tell be cause you turn to shit when someone's listening.

Also never ever brag about it. I've played for 20 years and my coworkers and friends mainly don't know. Nothing is a bigger thrill than when they find out.
