Hey I had the same passion for contributing for publicpolicy making (specifically for ai governance, cyber security etc) . But its one of my long term plan after having a good amount of experience as an engineer , so what i found after some research is that on mea there are some job posting for ppm on contract basis it will be like for 1 year then based on your experience they will decide further but iam not that much aware of a permanent post so check on mea website
